If I had to guess (and this by no means is intended to take anything away from sheer talent), it's a combination of a whole lot of OCD and perfectionism, lots of takes to get the perfect sound and tone and finger position, etc. I've seen some clips where Andy was thanking his girlfriend for being so patient while he recorded some takes and it was like "perfect or try again" .. like, lots of artists out there can shred and sweep and write cool shit, but I really think what makes Andy's work so fantastic is the "Andy" part of it - the non-musician part of it. I think it's important to recognize this because none of this feels "lucky" or "genetically blessed" to me - it feels like a whole lot of late nights and high standards and some of the most insane self-drive I've ever seen from an artist, and that shit should matter, I think 🤷🏻‍♂
