I'm so glad this popped up on my KZbin feed! I still watch Andy Griffith Show nearly every week night. The characters are ageless and the humor still as funny. My favorite are the ones when Opie was little and from time to time he would be facing a whipping but Andy would trust his little boy and low and behold Opie would bring out the tender side of Andy. Quality entertainment. The new shows of today just do not have the writing talent of old. Too much today protrays father's as dumb with smart elick kids. No talent. The deteriorating of families isn't fun to watch on sitcoms. Thank God for Mayberry reruns.

Violence because Andy often recommended the woodshed for misbehavior, and “fowl” language because of occasional chicken 🐓 jokes. The real problem is those KZbin censors weren’t introduced to the woodshed when they were young and never developed a sense of morality nor a sense of humor.

I think he was trying to convey that he appreciates Mt Airy for being Mt Airy and not for any resemblance it might have to the fabled Mayberry, which is idyllic as a function of the show. No real town could ever compare and shouldn’t try; I think that was his paint.

@@jackkircher1755 She actually stayed even after Andy left, and she worked on RFD. Yes, everyone knows Barney was the hot shot in the show,.. but when he left to do all those movies, I'm glad the show kept going, and they gave all those side actors big roles, like Emmett, Goober, and the rest... Even Aunt Bee got a ton more screen time. It might not be as funny to most people, but I'm grateful it worked out this way, instead of just cancelling it when Barney left. Barney did visit several times, so it made it perfect in my opinion.

If you ever watch a "Face in the crowd", you'll always wonder about Griffith from then on. Was the Andy Griffith Show really Andy, or Lonesome Rhodes pulling the wool over people's eyes again. It might change your opinion of the man after you watch it. He was very believable as Lonesome Rhodes, almost like he wasn't acting at all.

No, I hope u are not right. He was nominated for.an.Oscar for.that performance. I believe he was demonstrative but seemed to mellow personally as he aged and after being with Cindy. The things I have read sometimes contradict each other. I don't know what is true, wish I did.
