The WDR BIG BAND feat. Andy Haderer with the Quincy Jones composition "The Quintessence" in an arrangement by Michael Abene. Produced under the musical direction of Jörg Achim Keller as part of the Personal Sound series (WDR FUNKHAUS / March 2021).
Andy Haderer about his piece of music: "I heard "The Quintessence" on long-playing record when I was young and later saw it on video. At that time Phil Woods played a beautiful solo in Quincy Jones' big band. This melody never left me and some decades later I asked our former bandleader Mike Abene to write a new arrangement for the WDR BIG BAND. As I think, one of the most beautiful arrangements he wrote for us. Thank you Mike!!!
