Arguably the greatest K1-GP of all time. I love leg kick KOs and that spinning back heel was fucking perfection.

I used to go to high school with Michael. We were 2 years apart. We were friends on Facebook, I was suffering with Bipolar and major depression, I remember him sending me a message saying " Mike ( real name ) Keep strong, God is with you " Tow days later I was told he committed suicide.R.I.P Mike you are now with God :-)

Hug just abused Bernardo’s left leg. The back spinning heel kick landed right on that tender spot on the thigh that Hug created. This was payback from the previous year when Bernardo pulled off the upset against Hug. What you saw here was a well executed strategy. By no means did it go without taking some risks, Hug had to stay away from Bernardo’s big right hand that had knocked Peter Aerts cold in the first round of the tournament that year. Hug almost made it look easy, but the truth is that you couldn’t mess around too much with Mike Bernardo, because he could straight up knock you out if given the opening. Rest easy Andy Hug and Mike Bernardo.. you guys earned it.

Yeah man, me too. I wish there was a book about him with stories from the k1 era. Such a unique guy. I spoke to a Swiss woman I randomly met in a hotel lobby and I asked her did she know much a bout Andy Hug, she said she didn't like Martial arts but he was a national hero and when he fought, more people would tune in to watch his fight than the swiss football team or Martina Hingus' tennis matches. Amazing person altogether

Eoin Bernard hug is an amazing figther, but I dont see honour in kick again a leg obviusly fucked, bernardo is the true hero, is not easy stand up after a good kick
@eoinbernard11098 жыл бұрын
Its a fight. If a fighter floors somebody with a punch and they get a standing 8 count, the other fighter is going to swarm him after the fighter gets up and returns to the fight. There is no difference, thats how all combat sports go, you try to win the fight and Hug's strategy throughout the fight was to attack Bernardo's leg!

4:34 I like how focused they are when the referee is talking. They don't even waste their time trying to intimidate one another, they are so focused about the fight that they only care about what the referee is saying. Also what was the name of the song that played during Andy Hug's entrance?

K-1 was so hype in the mid-late 90's. It'll never be like this again. I shame Murrica never really embraced it. If I was lucky, I got to watch stray fights here and there at like 2:30AM on ESPN 2. We let all these legendary fights slide right on by as boxing was really in a rut and MMA was still contested mainly by barstool toughguys and McDojo Karate instructors. Why?

+bizzle187 Yeah, i was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing he had a prior leg injury.
@waffelmonster30498 жыл бұрын
+bizzle187 hug kicked like a mule. and it's all on the left leg. Bernardo doesn't defend the kicks well, he just eats them. even if i kick someone five times to the tigh, they will barely walk, and i am nowhere near the power andy hug generated. it really, relly hurts to be kicked like that. and it gets your legs fucked up. i'd guess there was no prior injury and it was all done in the fight due to the lack og defence from bernardo.
