I think this song speaks to so many people on a personal level because it has that natural, nostalgic, "cherished" sound of a father playing with his son/daughter in the backyard. A playful and beautiful tune, almost encapsulating "childhood" in a single song. Anyone else get that feeling?

Whenever a friend asks me to give an example of a piece of music that tells a story without using found sound or lyrics, this is the one I think of. I can't imagine anybody who has ever had a "complicated" relationship with his or her father listening to this song and not falling apart. The joys and the heartache are all there, and all distinctly a child's for his or her father. The missed notes in this version hit me like somebody singing and choking up through the song. I love it so much.

Wow this moved me so much. I lost my Dad back in 1994 but I've not been able to grieve as I'd like to for the sheer sake of not being able to let go and having a sense of guilt that I didn't take up the Piano as he had done which led to him being a Jazz musician for over 50 years. Neither he nor my Mum ever pushed music on me but I felt naturally drawn to the acoustic guitar. My Dad was a humble man with a warm heart and amazing sense of humour. I've been told that he'll be so proud of me on many occasions but it's hard to take in. My one true solace is music and this amazing song is one that I want to learn and play for him.
