One of the most underrated American tennis players of all time. He was an absolute beast out there and would have easily won 7-8 GS tournaments if it wasn't for one man, Roger Federer.
@cobra72828 жыл бұрын
***** Well only one player can be "the best" and that guy was Roger Federer. In most eras he wouldn't be facing the greatest player of all time.
@cobra72828 жыл бұрын
***** Also if he were to be in is prime over the past 6 years or so he might not have a single slam to his name with the "big 4" or "big 3" (what ever you prefer) dominating.
@cobra72828 жыл бұрын
The game evolved to favor movement over power. Movement was the one aspect of the game that Roddick wasn't all that good in. I think with the current courts (including Wimbledon) and the style that Roddick played with would have been tailor made for Djokovic's style. Especially over 5 sets. Wawrinka was able to take out Djokvic because of his great weapons from both wings. Roddick's lack of a real weapon on the backhand side would have been his biggest downfall.
@cobra72828 жыл бұрын
@107563248830932492342 Cilic has never beaten Djokovic in 14 tries and Wawrinka has a far better backhand and is also a better mover than Roddick and despite that he is only 4-21 against Djokovic.

True, people talk shit about Andy but he was a great player. I would love to see him square off with Novak and see how would he cope with those 140+ mph serves on fast surfaces (back in the day)

How I wish there was an Andy Roddick personality on tour in 2018.
@Kanintoffla4 жыл бұрын
I think that the problem is that personalities like these tend to lack in the consistency departement or just simply lack talent, whereas Roddick was a top 10 member for roughly 9 years. He had both the discipline and the talent to compete with the best, it's a shame he had such problems with Federer. I miss Roddick
@__jan61134 жыл бұрын
Erik Nilsson he admired Roger way too much and that affected his competitiveness. He used to beat all other ones in draw and then lose to Roger like he said he tried but can’t not dislike him.

I was once a volunteer driver for a pro tournament where I got to drive Roddick from the court to the hotel. He is 1 super friendly chilled out guy. No ego whatsoever. Of course he had just won a close match but I was told by others he’s generally like that.
