Ruiz showed signs of being a better overall fighter than before and probably will continue to improve in his next few fights . He just has to stick with the new program he's on. As a less heavy fighter, his abilty to absorb punches like he did before probably won't be as good, but he will be able to move better, more quickly and faster . Maybe his only real drawback will be that against a big, strong fighter who know how to use the ring, if he gets hit hard he could get hurt badly because he gives away size in terms of height, reach and leverage.

I saw more movement from the waist from Ruiz which is what I thought caused the knockdown. I think Arreola timed Ruiz's movement and countered him with a clout around the back of the head which added to his body weight and knocked him down. I'm not sure how much of a KO artist Ruiz actually is, even though he carries power. I think his weight loss and his added movement together ruined his balance causing the early knockdown. It's early days, but it's possible that fatness helps Andy's style and a man with longer reach boxing on the backfoot is the way to beat him.

As Hatman said, it’s not quite an iron chin, but it is good enough to withstand most heavyweight fighters. I think it is worth risking a tiny amount of punch resistance in order to gain versatility in head Movement, lateral movement, punching from new angles, having more zip on his punches from rotating quicker at the hips and ultimately just being all around healthier. Your right it takes time to get used to fighting at a lighter weight, The weight no doubt affected Ruiz. @Smarty Pants yeah the Wallin fight he was 250 lbs and couldn’t hurt the man and when he went to 273lbs against wilder, we all saw the difference. Thanks for the reply, i appreciate it. A lot of people are being overly critical of ruiz and i think it only means that they don't know his actual ring history. Hes always had talent ,but very little discipline, I'd say because anyone who competes on a pro level but has an obsession with anything is going to be affected by it, and thats why ruiz came in at the weight he did for the 2nd Joshua fight. He could afford to indulge in anything he wanted because he finally had money. But, Ruiz's new trainer recognizes talent when he sees it and also has a common language with Ruiz, but most of all,has little or no time for bs ,so any fighter who thinks hes going to hold his hand has another thing coming. He really has helped to restore Ruiz and i think we'll see within a few fights how far his training techniques will aid Ruiz.

Ruiz was never actually that good. His win over Joshua was based on Joshua switching off and getting clipped, not Ruiz outworking him / implementing a game plan

@@AmbientWanderer Maybe you're right, Maybe AJ will always have problems with people with fast hands. However, this boxing scared nonsense makes no sense what so ever. Heavyweights avoid throwing the uppercut because of how exposed it leaves you. AJ threw three in a row against Ruiz in the second fight. Simply because he was boxing on the back foot doesn't make him scared. If that was the case EVERY fight barring the second wilder fight Fury has fought scared right?

Hatman, what are your thoughts on the John Fury fight footage that got released by Porky's corner? Personally, thought it was out of order just uploading the five seconds where he gets knocked out in two fights. Could make Ali look poor if you edited five seconds of him getting beaten up by Holmes. Despite all that, I thought big John looked decent in the very short seconds they showed. What do you reckon? Do you think Big John will react?

To be fair Ruiz can only fight better and Chris was at his best. So based on that no need for a rematch needed. Chris can fight 1 or 2 more fights. RUIZ NEEDS TO LOOK AT WBA and target Bryan for regular world title.

Fury, because he knows how to use his size, but not Wilder because he makes too many errors in the ring. As long as Ruiz can reach Wilder's body he has an excellent chance of beating him, but he also has to be able to make Wilder miss punches. Ruiz showed signs of being a much better defensive fighter than before the weight change because he moves better and can throw punches while he is moving. He is a better overall and more mobile fighter. To say he isnt is to ignore the fight with Arreola, and to say that Wilder uses the ring smartly is to ignore his fight history.
