U gotta spray the headlights with clearcoat because polishing them removes their UV resistance, they'll fade even worse off in a few weeks if u dont!

Yo Boq, a little tip when it comes to rattle cans, Spraymax clear coat! You'll use it once and never use another rattle can clear coat. It's 2k needs to be activated so hardens up properly like clear coat from a body shop! well worth the £20 a can

I have a Jeep TJ and I used rustoleum spray bedliner from a can. It wasn’t a very rough finish, much smoother than people expect of a spray bedliner, and it worked well on the bumper and the black plastic/rubbery trim and fenders.

My Mk5 is my daily driver. I picked up a Black Invincible with the leather interior, it's my daily and I've done 15k miles in 18 months, brilliant thing. I did similar to you with the bumper etc, also did away with all the fake chrome so painted the mirrors, door handles, grille etc gloss black. Also stripped the wheels and did them black, just had a new set of 31 inch chunky tyres and it's spot on, absolutely love it 😃👍

Hey Boq - For any other crusty items that you want to re-use but are rusty, consider a coating of bilt Hamber Hydrate 80. Not affiliated with them at all but their products are awesome. British-made and would stop that bumper rust dead

New daily would have to be a 335D E9X. The M57 is one of the best diesel engines about, reliable, easily tune-able and fuel efficient. In a 3 series it makes a quick car!

The front end looks so much better 👍, nice one chaps. You ought to get underneath with some wire brushes, then coat it with ‘Buzz-weld’ (lanolin based stuff). Did my 110 a couple of months ago, great stuff and cheaper than others.

Anything with a PD130 engine is a good daily in my opinion! Great for tuning, cheap to buy and the engine is extremely reliable

The blow torch makes those plastic bumpers even worse after a few mouth. Clean and use plastic trim paint from Halfords, used it a few times now and works a treat 🤙🏼

That bumper reminds me of an old car resto tip. LOTS of muscle/old US cars came with chrome bumpers and aftermarket wasn't as good but cheaper than re-chrome. Anyways gotta paint the backside on new chrome bumpers, so they don't rot out from behind like yours did.

To get plastics back go with solution finish ... not particularly cheap and a bit messy but the BEST result by far .. esp if you do 2 coats and finish over the top with G Techniq C4.

HD Bumper ? Possibly ARB as a stockist maybe winch if hes going off roading with you depending how far you want to take it possibly Milner or simmonite if not they may offer advice. Be careful towing accesories dependent on vehicle age, I am currently getting tempted with the millitary bumper for my defender rebuild easy front tow hitch. I dont have the crush cans or airbags to worry about either. Some off road overlanding shows come up over winter. Supposedly some good chrome paints now, getting tempted on the 8 spoke wheels but may be show pony territory?

Get a Honda Crv MK2. 2L K20 VTEC, 4wd (kinda), boot floor is a removable picnic table, front and rear seats recline together into a bed, loads of room, really funky 2000's Japanese features. Oh an less than £3k for one under 100k miles. Oh, and the autos have a shifter on the dash above the steering wheel like an old American muscle car 😂 (I'm not biased or anything)

Surely you could get another metal bumper from the wreckers with no holes in it and then rust treat that and paint it.. also you now need to put a plastic clear coat on those headlights because you removed the original clear coat with the polisher . Well done & Cheers from AUS 🇦🇺🦘
