Always raising the bar! Watched Andy Timmons for a long time. He has gotten more soulful as he ages. His maturity shows in his phrasing and song selection. A damn good guitarist with a lot to say musically. Proof that all out shredding and tricks on the fretboard ain't all that! Well thought out grooves and almost vocal like phrasing make him a favorite among other guitarist. Very soulful. Makes me glad I'm playing again!

I've been trying to unpick this song for the past 3 months. It's not the notes, but the subtle nuances and accents in the way Andy plays them that's almost impossible to master. Quite possibly the most beautiful 2:31 minutes of unaccompanied guitar ever written. And the more I understand how he's playing this, the more I appreciate how utterly genius it is. An understated masterpiece!

Andy's 'Classy Tone' comes from his hands and musicianship, not a particular guitar. To me it sounds like Andy, not a fender strat.

Yes, Ibanez, and Fender Stratocaster = 2-completely different sounding guitars... But it's his technique, his ability, his many years of experience that makes a guitar sound/sing out like that... I absolutely love this guy, he is simply INCREDIBLE...

This is so beautiful it almost brings me to tears. It’s fascinating how this performance is so much greater than the album version. He’s got so much taste and musicality in his playing - and the Strat is just the perfect tool for that. The hotter ceramic pups in his Ibanez are way too compressed and damped. But who cares - he’s a hell of a player and on top of that seems to be a really genuine and humble guy. Thanks Andy!

All depends on the amp. Best player in the world ain’t gonna sound good unless it’s through a great amp. I hear all the time, tone is in the hands. Yeah, to a point. The gear matters, period.

Is Andy not playing Ibanez guitars any more?
@1Love2Customs7 жыл бұрын
Nah, he still uses his Ibanez signature models 99% of the time. He's always used various guitars for recording including some vintage strats and teles, and this is probably the guitar he used to record this track from the new record.
@p6x27 жыл бұрын
Indeed. He uses his AT100 prototype almost all the time. He does sometimes alternates with an AT100 white. He however has never been seen anymore with his AT300 after the Resolution CD. Similar ending for the Stiletto Deuce from Mesa Boogie that he was using side by side with the Lonestar in these days. During live concerts, I have seen Andy play a Vintage Telecaster, a Squier Stratocaster, and a Lawsuit Ibanez Stratocaster. For the Resolution CD, he used Marshall Plexi amps in the Studio. I have also seen him use a Yamaha G100 amplifier during a guest apparition with Eric Gales.
@divgtrslingr7 жыл бұрын
Guess his contract ran out,, his tone with a strat is way better now.
@greekfreak19807 жыл бұрын
I guess,because this here was for VintageGuitar Online,they gave him a Fender.Funny thing is,his Ibanez AT100 is pretty much Ibanez' take on a ''Fat Strat'',minus all the things that suck ass on a Fender,like that completely outdated neckheel,the atrocious trem or the lack of jumbo frets.I would call Andy's Ibanez,a Strat done right for the modern player.
@divgtrslingr7 жыл бұрын
I I get that..Andersons, PRS, Ibanez, Suhrs are all quality, except when it comes to tone of the guitar itself. That's why you still see Clapton, Beck, Page, Eric Johnson, SRV, Randy Rhodes,Gary Moore, Billy Gibbons, just to name a few( common unknown ) players always play a fender or Gibson because of the tone of the guitar itself. I also think endorsements of Ibanez may have a lot to do with it? Every Ibanez I ever tried at a music store felt like cheap crap?Rock- On!

His tone just got 200% better using a fender. While those other guitars may be nice, nothing has the distinct sound of a strat or les Paul.. That is the problem for me with the PRS, Andersons.. No distinct stone?
@pauloamw7 жыл бұрын
David Disagree, as much as I love the Fender tone, Andy's Ibanez has a distinctly beautiful classy tone that is all his. It's different from anything else out there.

If this were true, Andy would have changed guitar long time ago. Andy's tone is basically cruisers, but there is something about his fingers. There is something that traspases the wood and electronics.
