I've watched dozens, maybe over a hundred, randomizer races (LTTP, SM, and of course SMZ3). This is hands-down the best one I've ever seen. There is so much to glean from it. 1) When you have runners at this skill level, they may criss-cross areas to check, but over ~75% of this race, Andy and Zoast stay on pace with each other. THAT SAID... 2) Anyone familiar with the phrase "the good choice and the right choice are not always the same," *this* is the video to show off. Both runners went anywhere and everywhere, even breaking logic at times, to avoid going back to an isolated check, where their progression item (Quake) waited for them. AND... 3) At the end of the day, the more tricks up your sleeve, the better off you are. Zoast knew double bomb jump, which caused his vertical checks in SM to go vastly smoother than Andy's. And since Space Jump was never found on this seed, that was huge. But even more huge, Andy got Speed Booster out of logic because he was able to do hookshot cave without hookshot. If Zoast had confident hovering skills, he may very well have won. (though it didn't help that he explored most of Maridia before checking the sandpits in the end). Excellent, excellent race.

@@PatrickGann you seem to now what's going on here. Can you give me a brief explanation this video popped up after I looked up some info on SM and looking into a speedrun after undusting my SNES. I'm completely confused by what's happening here and how these to games have been mixed up. Where should I go to learn more about how it's possible to that these two games are mixed and what's the idea/purpose of all of this?

So... just to be sure... with morph ball bombs, gauntlet becomes logic? Via infinite bomb jump? Isn't it hard logic? I'm fairly new to this randomizer, and I'm trying to collect as much info as possible :D

@@antoniovanasco69 You can get to gauntlet via walljumping, bombs are just to clear some blocks.

Little unsure of why neither runner killed Dragon with the grapple beam. For Andy it makes sense for blue suit, but zoast didn't have speed booster and was empty on missiles. Grapple seemed an ideal quick kill for him in particular.

It’s not that hard. It’s 3/4 time signature whole singles are 4/4 time signature. B = bomb P = pause From the ground it starts BP then BBP, lather rinse repeat. Technically the timing for single bomb jumps is whatever time signature you want cause it’s just pressing to a continuous rhythm without any nuance at all. But bomb jumping isn’t exactly complicated in terms of rhythms

Little late but why does their Super Metroid look different from each other? Zoasts' is game is much brighter but dull colors while Andys' game is darker but has sharper color.

Depends on their recording setup, whether they use a flash cart or emulator, which emulator/flash cart they use and if on emulator what settings.
