The Great Andy Williams with The Osmonds singing Lida Rose in wonderful barbershop way. Including a nice dance with the sweet little Osmond sister.

My parents took a trip to Branson once, and they had tickets to Andy's show at the Moon River Theater. They got there early, so they were walking around outside the theater, and they ran into Andy. He talked to them for a while, then invited them to dinner after the show. My parents enjoyed that very much. They recieved a Christmas card from him every year for quite some time. Not only a great performer, but a great.person. RIP Andy.

@@user-gn9vu7wn7tmy mom & dad met him on the golf course in Branson, when they were playing behind his group. Mom got his autograph, and talked for years afterward about how gracious he was. My kids (1 millennial and 1 gen-X) were both devastated when he died, because his Christmas CDs were such a big part of their growing-up years.

Just look at the way Andy smoothes Maries hair from her eyes, and Marie attempting to sing along with the brothers, this video is pure magic, Marie is so comfotable sitting with Andy Williams. Mr. Williams at the peak of his singing prowess and the Osmonds at the start of their awesome careers. This is something to be treasured forever :)

This was Marie's very first TV appearance. She was such a cute baby and Andy Williams was so fatherly. Today, the Osmonds run a museum in his memory.

Little Marie is too adorable. Bet the boys did not know quite what to make of this little creature in the pale blue gown, white gloves and the little silver shoes! Hard to know Marie was ever at a loss for words. Loved her song "Paper Roses" on 1973

I'm proud to say that I loved this show. I loved Andy Williams, and I loved the Osmonds, all of whom could and still can sing. I'm also proud to say that when I was thirteen years old, I saved up my babysitting money to buy my own ticket to see Andy Williams perform, sewed a floor length formal gown to wear to his concert, and actually met him, and that later, while living and working in Hollywood, got to watch him record an album. Very happy memories!

Oh MY GOODNESS!! I loved Andy Williams also! I saw him in concert in Minneapolis and I can still feel the visceral effect his soaring voice had in that cavernous venue. I ALWAYS watched his show but I must admit to some envy of your experiences! Still have a crush on him today, those memories are so precious to me. Thank you for sharing yours 😊

Just a few days after these fellows from Liverpool appeared on another network and made history. It's funny how I was not yet born until December of that year, and yet this gives me a sense of watching variety programs with my parents on our floor model TV in the earliest days of my childhood memories.

Just for the sake of context - 1964 is the year the "British Invasion" began. The Beatles played 2 concerts in Las Vegas. (My friend was desperate to go, but no one we knew had parents who would allow it or could afford it.) If you contrast Andy Williams' crooning style, which is similar to that of Sinatra, Crosby, Como, Martin, etc., and the delicate, true harmony of Barbershop and Swing quartets (e.g. the Mills Bros., the Ames Brothers) with the British bands, you may better understand why so many of our parents hated the new music and clung to the old.

When I was a kid during the height of this show and others like it, i usually got bored when they started singing. I really only liked the comedy parts. I was a kid then. I'd usually leave the room when they started singing. Now, many, many years later, my eyes tear up when hearing these musical numbers. What an era. What happened to American culture, when things like this are gone, or worse, ridiculed, and mainstream entertainment means sadistic violence and vulgarity? What happened to us?

About 13, 11, 9 and 7.. holy crap! Most mainstream adult artist can’t come close to this if they tried! They lack the talent, ability and most importantly the skill to HEAR these tight harmonies. My favorite part is Andy at the end...on the boys’ last “Lida Rose”, he glances up and smiles. You can tell he’s just listening to the brothers.

The Osmonds had such wonderful and loving parents who taught them that fame wasn't everything and to believe in the simple things of life... unlike the Jacksons, who's father beat them and never instilled anything in their lives but heartache and terror.

The Osmond father was strict, and had high standards for his sons. He taught them a strong work ethic, which they seem to have appreciated rather than resented.
