@Martin Kulkarni - Deaky was always my favorite. When I saw them in concert he was actually the most interesting to me. Head down, bopping away, feet dancing, completely consumed by the music and never missing a beat. He was, with Taylor, the time keeper and solid foundation of the band. His song writing was great and his bass parts always fit the songs perfectly. Some were simple and some very complex but always melodic and just right. A shame that they weren't made more prominent in the final mixes on the albums because they were gems. Everyone goes for the flashy stuff and John was purposely not flashy nor sought the spotlight. I have heard Brian call him "our dear Deakie" and say they miss him but it was actually painful for John to play with them any more. He was also loyal to Queen's legacy and Freddie and left for those reasons and to be a good husband and father. He showed true character in doing so. Miss him but there are always the videos.

ROGER FUCKING TAYLOR DUDE! I am so glad you are noticing Roger's vocals. Most people never acknowledge him. He had the best backing vocals ever and was always there to help Freddie out. Then there is the time he forgot the words to Im In Love With My Car and Freddie started singing it. Classic. The Montreal DVD has commentary from Roger and Brian. When they see Freddie come out in his short shorts they both say "I don't know what to say about that." LOL. Freddie's piano playing was often underrated as well. Roger and Brian say he was a great musician and had exceptional rhythm on the piano. Roger Taylor with the killer backing vocal on so many songs, notably Somebody to Love at this concert and Under Pressure singing Bowie's part. Queen Live is always best. Keep it up guys!

If you noticed even at Wembley before he sang Under Pressure he grabbed a drink off the piano. Third time I’m going to try this. PLEASE react to the first 16 minutes of Wembley 7/12/86. It’s a great opening and then a medley of their old rock songs where Brian goes nuts on the guitar. There’s only one stop when Freddie says hi to everyone and then continues. It’s amazing. I was freaked to see Freddie start Seven Seas of Rhye- his hand was so damn fast on the piano I couldn’t see his fingers!!!!!

Roger Fucking Taylor indeed. Him and John Deacon are truly underappreciated (John was a hit writer, Roger with his vocals). Same concert, Save Me. Has Brian May on piano, Freddie singing while running down some steps,, and effortless vocals by Freddie. In the Lap of the Gods at the Rainbow (careful, there's 2 versions). Roger's falsetto is otherworldly. Tbh, anything from Montreal 81 was amazing. I'll have to watch the concert again when I get home from work tonight

Hi Guys, never in my life have I been so glad this concert was videoed, from beginning to end. Freddie went nuts. He was so into the performance, still with a regard for his band mates & the crowd, other than Live Aid, it might have been the performance of his life.He just took it to a higher level, & it’s hard to even contemplate Freddie at a higher level than his ‘normal’ performances. Watch the show from beginning to end-pick your favorite parts (you may have already done that wit the end), Freddie was totally in command, he just took it & ran away with it. He did everything in the moment he felt like doing-it wasn’t choreographed. He just ran away with it. I LOVE this CD, & I love your ratings-I mean, even picking out a couple of minor flaws, who else does rock purely by instinct. Thanks, see ya soon😻

THIS IS WHY ROGER TAYLOR IS A LEGEND!!!!! His voice is so powerful and doesn't even sound like his normal speaking voice, not only that, but he is an amazing drummer. But when you can sing and play at the same time, that's when it becomes impressive! I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for that. I would rate this a 10, maybe it's cause I show a lot of favoritism towards Queen, but I respect your guys' opinions! The transition from "We Will Rock You" to "We Are the Champions" is DEFINITELY one of the best transitions I have ever seen in my life!!! Great reaction video Andy and Alex! I'm still in shock that you never knew "We Are the Champions" was right after "We Will Rock You", they've been doing that for a while now, despite the Magic tour. Particularly loved the point about Freddie singing and playing the piano, there's always something so special about seeing that. Funnily enough I feel the opposite about 'We Are the Champions' studio vs. live... The way the studio version tails off without finishing the lyric (no '...of the world') *always* irritated me. It was such a relief when I finally heard the live versions where they finish the lyric, it was like filling a void that had been there for years!! :D Anyway, would love to see more reactions to their earlier 1974 and '75 concerts. :) All their performances are spectacular, but I've always found Queen's earnestness in those early concerts so endearing, when they know what they have to offer but haven't quite made it to the top yet.

Guys, I saw them in Nashville 2 weeks ago & I can't tell you what a thrill it was to hear Brian swoop in on "We Will Rock You", play that famous BoRhap solo & Brighton Rock solo (looking like he was atop an asteroid, no less), so many great moments. He made his Red Special sing as beautifully as he ever did. And Roger still sounds great too, vocally & percussively. Plus their onstage camaraderie was beautiful (& fun) to watch. Of course you miss Freddie but they pay homage to him throughout the show..Brian's acoustic moment singing "Love of My Life" with thousands singing along & lighting the arena holding their phone lights aloft was emotional & beautiful. There were people of all ages there, as enthusiastic a crowd as you'll ever see. There's a reason these men are living legends & at 70 & 72 they're still able to demonstrate why. As an older fan who's loved them since their start, it was a joyful experience to see & hear them play their life's work live. If you get the chance when they come back on tour again, you should go. You'd enjoy every minute.💙 Oh, & you should check out some of the videos people have posted along the tour, especially some of Brian's solos & that LOML moment. Phones can't capture just how great it was but it gives you an idea.💙

Late by years to the party, but wanted to make sure you guys know about the Roger and Brian Commentary of this Montreal '81 concert. It is enlightening, to say the least. Easy to find here on KZbin and you can watch the whole concert while they yack about things pertaining to the filming, the backstage antics, and Rog with half a dozen sexual innuendos. "I'm in Love With My Car" is Roger's sexy solo song, so hearing his voice alone is great fun. And of course, "Someone to Love," probably the best song of that entire concert (and there are many!). I saw Queen live in 1978 (Lakeland, FL - Jazz Tour) and the audience stomp*stomp*clapped for 30 minutes before the show started. On wooden bleachers. I can still feel the reverberations all these years later. You two really are awesome. Thank you!

I swear Alex that face you make when he goes to those high notes is exactly what I do. He hits those with perfection, no cracks. Fucking beast.

This song reminds me of my nephew. When I was about 18 he was 3, I'd be laying in bed, prob hungover, AND he would walk in my BR when my sis came over to visit. With a REAL high pitched voice start yelling, "We Will Rock You, We Will Rock You..." until I played it. Pissed me off at the time BUT good memories.

Iconic Freddie...Oh, those itty, bitty shorts! He had a towel because he used it for all of his sweating earlier (This band gave their all for every performance!) Also, Roger sings the high ("dog-whistle voice" (Freddie's quote, not mine)) and Freddie the low in concerts. If you get a chance, check out NPR Fresh Air interview with Brian May where he talks about writing 'We Will Rock You". He IS the guitar master! QUEEN...great choice!!!! Thank you! 😀🔥🔥🤘❤️❤️

Roger lost his "dog whistle" falsetto in 1979. At this stage in Queen's performance you would unfortunately not see it.

Freddie had voice problems since the late 70's, he had nodules on his vocal cords, because he used to belt the high notes live. So Roger with his naturally higher voice used to help him out in the high notes, often taking the high note and Freddie sang lower.
@ZENOBlAmusic5 жыл бұрын
@@flyingcloud6776 Roger did often help with higher notes, but Freddie also still sang a lot of the high notes. People also forget that Freddie always performed an impromptu song during every night, where he would usually hit incredibility high notes. It was probably easier for him to confine the highest notes to one song, in order to preserve his vocal cords for a whole performance. Freddie had nodules or perhaps only the beginning of nodules since 1975. His voice was more dependent on the touring schedule, if they toured a lot or if they did a lot of dates together Freddie's voice would get tired. Freddie's voice at least tended to recover quite quickly. (Which is why some people believe he didn't really suffer from nodules). Roger is more of a natural tenor therefore it was easier for him to hit high notes more consistently, and of course he sang back up vocals, that also helps to preserve your voice. Even when Freddie's voice was tired his falsetto was never a problem for him. But he used less falsetto as Queen's shows started to grow, because falsetto is very soft, and he likely couldn't hear himself. Roger does have an amazing voice, these days he is actually singing all of the lower parts. But Roger did lose his high pitched falsetto in 1979. You can map it out with live performances of '39: '39 1976: Just listen to the resonance of Roger's falsetto, it is amazing. He completely over powers Freddie's delicate falsetto: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6bJlndjpK9qaKc '39 1977: Roger's falsetto is still intact here, Freddie's falsetto is a bit stronger: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3WWZ4yaad2Alck '39 1979: Roger's high falsetto is gone, Freddie now has to take lead on the falsetto part: kzbin.info/www/bejne/haaXpmCimtFlf7s

Very glad you chose the We Will Rock You, We are The Champions meld.from this concert in Montreux. The entire concert was awesome! Also timely you would show it now; September 5,6,7,8, are the "Freddie Celebration Days" in Montreux, honor of the 73rd anniversary of Freddie Mercury's birth, ( September 5th.) Queen did such amazing work & had personal there. Their music, as you both said, still is very relevant. Thank you much guys!

I agree with the Save Me comment. From Montreal 1981. Brian on piano and then moves to guitar for a great solo. Great vocals as always so check it out. Unreal talent.

It so good to see you guys loving Queen I loved these in the 70s and 80s when I was young and have their albums and have never stopped enjoying them. At 69 now it's great to see a new generation loving these bands from a different era.

The next Queen song you should do is what I’ve been telling you to do for ages, Save Me at the same concert. If you don’t do it then there’s something wrong because I bet it’s the most requested song in the comments section every time you do a Queen reaction.

It's interesting that you had no idea that it would flow right into We Are The Champions -- on the radio back in the day (and, for that matter, even now on any classic rock station), the two songs are inexorably linked -- you never heard heard one without the other.

It's about time your doing live concerts. It has been written that the best concert ever filmed is from the TALKING HEADS in STOP MAKING SENSE. Directed by Jonathan Femme over a 4 day concert in 83 or 84. Cut me some slack, I'm 67 years old, and I grew up appreciating the begining of rock. But when I attended the TALKING HEADS concert on the 2nd day, the energy of the band was infectious. Another concert is the Moody Blues Live at Red Rock. Keep it up, you guy's are young but are experiencing a early decade of rock. SO many live concerts you need to watch and enjoy what we old stoners called rock.

you must do “18 and life” by skid row. this is their biggest song along with “I remember you” probably the greatest hair metal song of all time. they are a 80s and 90s band who’s first album was released in 1989. their first album had 3 of their biggest songs. 18 and life was inspired by the guitarist reading a story in the newspaper about an 18 year old who accidentally killed his best friend with a gun. he didn’t know the gun was loaded. the 18 year old got prison for life. the singer, sebastian bach, has an extremely powerful voice which was meant for the song. the range of his voice was incredible and “18 and life” scored #4 on the US charts giving them their biggest hit.
