I like the police and I'm 55, but I'm more of a 70's classic rock sort. Zep, The Who, Rush, Yes, etc etc ...But yeah when the police first came out especially, I was a big fan. I'm a drummer and Stewart Copeland was a breath of fresh air in a pretty stale environment at the time. Love his style!

I was very fortunate to see The Police on their Reunion Tour in 2007 (May have been 2008) and they were unbelievable! Stewart Copeland broke his snare drum head after the 2nd song. That dude is not just a drummer, but a true percussionist and musician. All 3 of those guys had a special chemistry when they were together. A very volatile chemistry, but it really did lend to the chemistry of the music.

There was a time in the early 80s where the Police were arguably the biggest rock band in the world. There are only three guys in the band. Sting sings and plays bass in the Police. They broke up at the height of their fame. Sting’s solo stuff is absolutely incredible but the raw magic of the Police is a different beast entirely.

Stewart Copeland is one of rock's most creative drummers. Check out Walking on the Moon from this same album, it's very minimalist yet atmospheric with more amazing drumming.

The thing about The Police is that whilst they had superb singles, such as this, they packed their albums full of bangers too. They really were one of the headline acts of the late 70's and early 80's. Copeland cites the drummers from Jimmy Hendrix experience and cream as his biggest influences which is apt as they were also three member bands like the Police. The Police were phenomenal. Sting has his own catalogue and has evolved so far beyond his beginnings. One of his best solos is Desert Rose, sung featuring Cheb Mami. Check it out. Truly beautiful music.

One of my favorites! I have very fond memories of seeing Sting in concert (as a solo artist in the last 10 years or so, not with the Police) and the entire crowd dancing their heads off during this song performed as an encore. The many colored lights were spanning the crowd and we were all jumping up and down and singing along, especially near the end when it builds up and he sings, "On and on and on and... every little thing every little thing every little thing... every little every little every little thing she does, every little thing she do is magic magic MAGIC!" It was electric! 😄🎵🎶
