This has just happened to me after a solid year of trying! Well, I wasn't trying hard enough tbh and would just avoid them altogether til I watched this video and almost immediately I got the F major to ring out. Now I can do it. @toptrader10183 жыл бұрын
Try using slacker stings. 0.07 and 0.08 require very little pressure. If your guitar has 0.13 or 0.12, it can be hard work.
@melodyvalentine87792 жыл бұрын
@@toptrader1018 yeah, I have no idea what kind of strings I have tbh but I agree with this because my guitar was extremely hard to play in general when I first got it. I paid to have it set up properly with lighter guage strings and really low action. It made the world of difference. I was having to push super hard just to get the simplest chords to ring out. The strings were about a half a metre off the fretboard 😂 not quite that dramatic but it definitely wasn't beginner friendly! I dread to think how I'd have tackled barre chords if I'd not known it wasn't supposed to be like that. I just thought it was way harder than I expected but quickly found out my guitar needed a proper set up. £25 including the new strings and it plays like a dream now, well worth it.
@BradHutchings5 жыл бұрын
For me, the toughest part of Barre chords is hand geometry - understanding what it should be and implementing from my point of view whole holding the guitar. Elbow in is helpful. I also noticed how flat your wrist is with the finger curling to reach rather than flopping down on the fret board.

Same here, I wouldn't say I've learned to do them but this video has been a massive help and I can see myself playing barre chords now. Before this I thought my hands just weren't built for them. Once I build up thr strength in my index finger enough to press all the strings without feeling like my thumb is gonna pop out its socket I reckon I can do it 😂 Edit I did it! Last night I got the full F chord to ring out. Thanks so much to Andy Guitar! I never thought I'd be able to do it and then he comes along and simplifies it so much that even I could almost do it immediately. I'm over the moon man!

And its not the flexibilty though i have shitty flexibility. The problem is my index finger has ridges like id imagine everyone does, some parts higher than other cause of the bone joints. Cause of this i cant seem to get a consistent clean sound. And when i do i feel like im using way too much force that it just seems impractical cause that cant be sustained for too long.
