It ultimately was a short blip, but there was about a five-year stretch where there was a real debate as to whether Chris Paul or Deron Williams was the best point guard in the NBA. From 2008 to 2012, Williams averaged 19.5 PPG and 10.2 APG and guided the Jazz on some decent playoff runs. Williams was even a major contributor to the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Gold Medal teams. For whatever reason, Williams career really fell off once he turned 29 and he was out of the NBA before he turned 33 years old. So, while he clearly lost the battle with Chris Paul for Point God, he was still a star in the league for half a decade.

The way the Celtics treated Isaiah is the reason why some FA or stars are not willing to go to Boston, for example AD’s father specifically said he doesn’t want his son to go to Celtics because of how they treated Isaiah Thomas
@fredm.269910 ай бұрын
Its a dumb statement..essentially, you can always say that about the Celtics. Stars will go to boston. Just like they’ll go to some other big market.

Ngl, the NBA is not a league for unidimensional players anymore. After Howard and Rondo downfall in 2012-2014, players not only need to be good/great in one department, they need to be average or good in others. You can't be a good shotblocker and slow with your feet. You can't be a great three point shooter and average in every other offensive aspect of the game. Joe Harris is a good NBA role player, but with or without the injuries, if he has an off shooting night, he is not contributing to winning.

I have watched a lot of your videos Andy, this one hurt for some reason. Maybe cause I was aware of all of these situations and these player's careers. Harris is the only one I was not as up on. I vaguely remember him not playing well in that series, but I forgot or did not know how bad it really was. I knew how good he was before and how not good he was after lol. IT was amazing for that one season, especially at that size. Then you had the death of his sister in that playoff series too. Deron was my pick over CP3 back in the day. I remember when he got traded to the Nets and my roommate in college was a Nets fan. He had a couple of decent seasons but I remember that 2017 finals. Unplayable is a perfect way to say it, but they had to play him because that was how slim that Cavs team was. It is like he forgot how to play basketball.

1:07 The truth is the Bucks won because of Brook Lopez blocking KD's shot there (which happened during Overtime). If he hadn't blocked that, the tip of KD's feet on the 3 point line would have been seen as a delay of the inevitable.

Its sad how Joe Harris retired in a bad ending after having struggles in Detroit he retired at the age of 33 years old. He was the best 3 point shooter a few years ago to this.

What sucks about D Will is before Cleveland traded for him he was having a resurgence in Dallas. He never returned to his all star form but he was looked at as a quality guard in the league. Then he just completely forgot how to play basketball all over again

I use to say this about the pure catch and shoot type. Even peak Kyle Korver would fall off in the playoffs. If you can’t put the ball on the floor at all defense closes out on you. That’s a testament to Duncan Robinson to add dribble drives to his game to give variation.

What the Celtics did to Isaiah Thomas was essentially criminal even though he was fundamentally flawed as a NBA player long term with his small frame.

I swear across all of sports they need to make some rule changes that punish teams for putting players at unnecessary risks, even if said player is wanting to go back out there still needs to be safeguards in place. Maybe the first set of punishments are fines and then they start taking away draft picks. I know the NHL does have a little bit of something in place (forgot exactly how the rules are) but if they want to make a point across on player safety, they really need to get a system in place for where the players aren’t being pushed too far, otherwise history is going to repeat itself over and over again.

I'm subscribed to Andy Hoops with my burner account, but I just had to comment with my real one. Thank you for making this video, Andy. Everyone wants to make a big deal about Kevin Durant's foot on the line, but the bigger reason the Nets had such a disappointing playoffs that season is Joe Harris. Frankly, Joe was one of my favorite players on that Brooklyn squad, but I was flabbergasted at just how awful he played. What in the world went wrong? This guy was an NBA 3-point contest winner and led the league in two separate seasons from beyond the arc. Something affected him that perhaps we will never know. 🏀

Tbh i think the Nets is kinda cursed in someway. From time to time their team looks great both on paper and on the court and still no ring to show for. I hope someday they could finally win. On the other hand looking back to the IT situation, somehow i relate it to the Kawhi drama with the Spurs back in 2018. It takes Kawhi 4 season to be fully healthy because i think it's been a while since we last saw him play back2back, and this year the Clippers is such a fun team to watch, just like the ... Nets with the combination of former MVP/ Finals MVP

thomas trade part is pretty wrong. When trade happens, traded player goes through medical with the new team and if they come up with anything that wasnt reported before the trade can be cancelled. Cavs at that point knew what injury he had.
