I rebuilt/restored my 66 Mustang in 2019. While I did clean and paint the engine bay I was going for a factory Shelby look.....so I left things like wire harness, solenoid and lines in stock location. Thanks!

Thanks! It's easy for me to frame it this way, now that the car has come as far as it has, but it wasn't that long ago when I wanted to do the whole car in a month. :)

Looking good Andy! When I look at my engine bay I just stare at it and think how do I do this and where do I start. It's something I want to tackle this fall/winter. I guess like you said just chip away at it. Thanks.

That's really the only way to do it. I remember looking at this engine bay after I bought this car (nearly two years ago now) and felt overwhelmed of how much I had to do to get this car back up on top. But one bite at a time is how you eat an elephant, so..... :)

I'm currently redoing my engine bay on my 67 now on my channel (shameless plug) 😂 but I appreciate a clean well built engine bay alot of people will spend so much time and and money on a motor and throw it into a lightly degreased engine bay, and I as you was looking into some March pulleys and decided to just powder coat my current pulleys and upgrade later down the line, great vids as always andy
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the powder coating option sounds like a decent way to clean things up, I'm still trying to figure out what to do. :)
@Ricardo_Wade

@AndyKruseChannel I for sure still want to do the march serpentine conversion down the road but it's almost the same cost as it is for my msd distributor, coil, and ignition box and obviously that's more a priority vs some nice pulleys

It's on the passenger fender liner, between the shock tower and the heater blower motor. The relocation is covered in the video I did last December where I was cleaning up the engine bay while I waited for my 347 engine build. :)

Hey Andy, I’ve always thought certain engine bays would look good in the car’s body color (like 60’s MOPARS). 60’s Thunderbirds engine bays are painted body color. I’ve have a 67 Fairlane convertible with the standard Ford black engine bay. The car is white. I know white would probably be ridiculous in an engine bay but my point is that carrying the body color into the bay would really make the engine and whole combination stand out.
@AndyKruseChannel

Yeah, I thought about that too.

Do you have a video on changing out your export brace? I noticed you used to have the one that was welded to the shock towers.
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Жыл бұрын
I had the stock cowl braces on the car when I bought it, then I added the export brace that is there now (there was a video on that). When I was waiting for my 347 to get built, I was doing so clean up work in the engine bay and that's when I removed those welded-on cowl brace pieces that were left over (there's a video for that too). Removing them was easier than I thought it would be. :)
