Thanks Donna! I certainly wouldn’t have gone out without the heated stuff!! You can connect the camera to the bike, but i prefer where possible to not be connected. The battery pack i have is so thin that it’s unnoticeable in my pocket. I’ve also removed the USB socket from the front as it started to be a bit inconsistent. I did that at the same time as i did indeed put the stock bars back on (good eyes!). I installed bar risers to try and reduce wrist pain, but this meant the black bars were too wide for the cables and hoses. Plus there stock bars, ironically, had the most natural feeling angle with the increased height.

An intriguing little number and shown off to its best by your good self, as always. Everything needed to make the perfect action cam for motorcyclist is out there, just not all in one place. But big numbers sell and we must go better than the last one, right! We don't all want 4k this, hyper something that and vigasal'd everything else, nor do we all drink redbull and wish to film the same "rad trick" over and over until we "nail" it. 4K resolution, large bit rates and in shot processing needs a big processor and complex software thats often glitchy, generates heat and eats up power. We as motorcyclists are a small market and I don't thing anyone is looking in our direction. All we ask is a camara that shoots in a reasonable resolution, without showing off, a battery that lasts the life of a mid sized sd card, water resistant, the ability to plug a mic in of our choice without the need for some propriety add on monstrosity and a little stabilization without all the bells n whistles we don't need. Now if Drift, Gopro and Insta just got together and had a little baby...
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark. I totally agree. I’ve had 4K videos since just before the Croatia tour in 2017. That tour series was pretty much the first and last time I used 4K for a youtube video and nobody is bothered! Simple features that work well is all we really need. But like you say, it’s always got to be better. Even if it means we have to invent some feature that nobody wants so we have something new to offer! I think Insta360 are on the right track with the GO 2. The CPU heavy lifting is done by your phone or PC, otherwise the battery would last 5 minutes. The quality is more than adequate and the stabilisation impressive. For their next camera, I’m hoping that they’ll nail it. I’m looking for something midway between the GO 2 and the One R. Tiny size, lightweight, swappable memory & battery and I’m more than happy with 2.5K final resolution too.

Hey! I don’t have a One R, but like everyone i have an opinion! 😜 I think the One X2 is the better camera. I too reckon that the 360 footage is better because the camera is so much thinner. It’s really cool that the One R has the different lens options, but i prefer to have a tool that’s really good at one job rather than not quite 100% good at 2 jobs. For me small camera means more discretion when shooting, and this is a plus to go unnoticed. also light weight on helmets means more safety. Good plus is usb mount, it solve a biggest limit of battery that still go pro has if you don't carry on few addictional battery. Definitely, i think this is the best solution for motovlog, also because what really need in footage is a good quality audio than image. The image quality is absolutely good for every action can now on the market if you want to upload on youtube. @AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
There’s a strong movement of people using this camera on small home made drones. Especially now the power mount means some people have been powering the camera from the drone‘s battery. Apparently the only potential issue is jello from the vibrations but that’s true for any rolling shutter camera. And many pilots seem to have conquered it!

I'm back 😆 I've bought a Insta360 1R since this video. Now I'm thinking about trading my 1R for the Insta360 go3 as I don't use the 360 feature much and probably do more with the go3.

A great little piece of equipment, i still find it a bit pricey and think you could better add more cash and get the insta360 one x2. Thanks for sharing the vid Andy.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I do agree that the One X2 is a lot more camera for not much more money. I guess it depends on what you want it for really. For anything where the One X2 would be too big/heavy or when 360 degrees is just too much, then the GO 2 is a real contender. It is a bit pricey, but then if i can create Footage that rivals my Hero 8 black, but without the brick on my helmet (oo-er) then i see real value in that. 👍🏻

The versatility really is second to nothing I’ve ever used! With gopros, or even my DSLR, that opening sequence would have taken hours to record. With this camera, it took about 30 minutes! Sure it didn’t look as slick as it would have with the DSLR. But tbh i don’t think most people would notice the difference. Content is king and time is short! 😎

Danke.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын

Insta do seem to be (selfie) sticking it to GoPro the days. In the UK the GO 2 RRP is £294 (currently on sale at £265) while the ONE X2 RRP is £429. Think if I was limited to one camera I'd fork out the extra for the ONE X2 but I'd definitely buy an Insta against a GoPro.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I would tend to agree, you get a lot more camera for your money with the One X2. Guess it depends on what you’re after specifically. For some uses the 360 degrees would be overkill. But i also agree on the gopro front. 4 new iterations of the camera and nothing really new beyond software stabilisation improvements and even some of that functionality requires you to buy more expensive accessories. And after so many years, still that mic adapter. No thanks!!

I’ve been GoPros for years, and every single one has failed in some way. I have also destroyed a few. I fly racing drones and Cinewhoops. I’ve been using Insta’s on my Cinewhoop for weight reduction. They are quite impressive for the size. They don’t stand up too well when you fly into a tree at 60mph though.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thankfully I’ve never yet had a gopro failure, but I’ve had a LOT of videos ruined by rubbish or non-existent audio due to their rubbish external audio solutions. I think I’d have been impressed with anything that could deal with a 60mph tree introduction!! 😂 Did you at least manage to save any video from the wreckage? TBH the amount of drone footage out there with the GO2 was what did me completely on giving it a go. Impressive little bugger!

The sound on the bike is, as expected, unusable. Too much wind and nothing else. When there’s no wind, say when talking to the camera inside, the audio is actually surprisingly good. From one tiny mic it’s obviously not studio quality, but it’s very useable.

It is pricey for what it is. But then that depends on how valuable the extra features and flexibility are to you. If you’re not interested in Manual control, colour control and ND capability, and a bigger size is no problem, then i can certainly see why it might seem overpriced.

I wanted to click dislike but I couldn't due to that little rhyme at the start. ;) unfortunately the 360 is potato quality and has some massive drawbacks such as battery life and file storage since you can't use external SD cards. I think even a super old Gopro Hero 4 black or Sony AS100 outperforms it. I reckon the next generation of it though is going right on the money. Same with the 360 degree cameras such as the X2 and Gopro Max, not quite there yet, but 2022 updates (they are both a couple of years old now) should see them improve massively. P.S +1 on the Keis gear been using one their vests for 6 years.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I think it all depends on your use, your audience and your goals. Sure you’ll not make video that’ll blow your mind on a 50“ 4K tv. But for youtube, Instagram, etc.. they’re all good enough. In fact they’re better than good enough. Nobody who isn’t some kind of pixel peeping semi pro will be able to tell the difference between video from any of the Insta range and a gopro Hero 10, let alone a hero 4. Not on their phones anyway. And let’s be honest, they’re aiming these cameras directly at those people. And smashing it out of the water.
