You asked for opinions so: I love the top. I love the base. But not in combination. They distract from each other and clash. I agree with others a nice simple polished concrete or marble top - preferably round on the deco base. A simple and understated base for that beautiful yew river top, and in wood….

That top is stunning! I don't think it goes well with the base, though. I could see that base with like a slab of granite or marble.

The top is beautiful, and the base isn't bad, but I don't think it goes with the top. The top is very naturalistic with the wood grain and edges where the base is very artificial looking. A more natural wood base would be better in my opinion.

Like combining art nouveau with modernist theory?

Was going to say the same thing. I think the top could still work, but the live edge would need to be squared off to match the base design. Alternatively, use live edge pieces to build the base up in the same style would look great, but I can't imagine the challenge that would pose.

Agreed

I agree, a top like that should have a nice understated base that won't distract. Maybe a simple log base to go with the live edge theme

I love the bass, I think it's extremely creative and artistic! I think I would have done a glass top on it rather than the one that you put on it. However, I absolutely love the top! I think that would make an amazing countertop in the kitchen or anywhere. LOL

That is weirdly beautiful! I love art deco, so the geometric base appeals to me, but I also love the natural wood. The way the grain goes with the gorgeous blue makes it look like a coloured geological map of a river basin! I'd definitely give it house room!

The coolest piece of wood yew've ever seen. I really can't stop making wood puns. Been a little while since I left any kind of comment on any of your videos. Been quite caught up in life and all that fun stuff. I've always enjoyed watching the woodturning (and carpentry) process and getting to see what comes out of it! Very good content to watch when unwinding after a long day.

The table top is very beautiful! I can see myself looking at it for hours. I get the idea about the base - but it doesn’t have the rustic beauty of the top. It’s good to experiment though otherwise how does anyone come up with anything! Thanks for this. Very inspiring!

The base is perfection - are you measuring the angle as you put them on, or doing it by sight? The top is gorgeous, love the "river through land" feel to is. I honestly do not like the two together, I feel they distract from each other and would be better. But I see many people like it, so don't feed badly or change the piece. Best of luck with sales!
@CuriousCrow-mp4cx8 ай бұрын
Don't knock the base. It might clash with the live edge yew, but it is so reminiscent of Art Deco moderne hard-soft formal styling, it has its own beauty. If you ever watched Poirot, they used that styling in a house of the era and style, and the naturalistic elements were always constrained to surfaces, and given machined edges, like flooring. So naturalism was secondary. But that base reminds me of the paintings of Baroness De Lempicka from that era - sensual but formed, and disciplined. Lol. I just woke up, so forgive me. I love your work.

I’ll admit, the top is top tier, but that base has a kind of concrete slab look that really doesn’t mesh well. You could lean into a concrete jungle look tho if you added some extra plant like details on the base, just as an idea

Overall it's a cool project! Love the wood grain pattern and the acrylic "river". I think it'd have been cool to turn the base so it was cylindrical, but the angular look plays, too

I have to agree that the pieces don't exactly go together. I agree with other comments that a glass top would've looked better with that base. I do love the top, but I think it's a shame to cover up those natural yew edges with opaque epoxy (but you already know how I feel about opaque epoxy in general, haha). I might've gone with a transparent bronze or gold to complement the heartwood. Watching your videos is never dull, no matter how the final project turns out (-:
