A little fun fact. The "blue" of the matilda was actually a silver gray/green calles BSC 28 Silver grey. But because of a major error a museum in the UK did we now know the mathilda with a bluish colour. Even other restorers made the error in continouing the blue sceem.
@owenmayes2128 Жыл бұрын
I'm amazed that so many individuals and organizations are still unaware of the colouring error, it sugests very poor research as the information is out there.
@owenmayes2128 Жыл бұрын
From what I have found, the Imperial War Museum actually incorrectly painted their Matilda 2, which led to the “fake” paint schemes that are displayed in model kits and pictures. Official documents from 1940 about the desert camouflage do not include blue as a color. The official British tank livery camouflage Caunter Colours’ shown in an official document dated July 1940 were Portland Stone (BSC No.64), Light Grey (BSC No.28) or Silver Grey and Slate Grey (BSC No.34). The grey paints were apparently originally from Royal Navy paint stocks in Alexandria, Egypt. There is no Blue shown in the official document. The Imperial War Museum in London painted their Matilda II tank light blue instead of Light or Silver Grey by mistake. Because the museum used this colour scheme it was copied by the French tank Museum and many Model kit companies.

I drove a 577 when I was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma around 1981-82 as a Fire direction specialist Hq Battery 2/36 FA, and again in Baumholder Germany with A Battery 1/83rd FA 8th Inf Div and again in Fort Hood with C Battery 1/77 FA 1st Cav. Div. Bought this kit in 1988 after I got out of the regular army and scratch built the interior to look like a fire direction center as I was usedsw to. Then I built an M109 A1 self propelled howitzer and a Jeep. It took me a long time to find a model of a game goat and an M548 ammo carrier. Those were the main vehicles I had driven while in the army. Later in the reserves we had towed m198 howitzers and our FDC was mounted in the back of a humvee. I also drove a 5 ton truck and a colonels sedan. Over the years I had to give up modeling as the house got a bit crowded. After my daughter grew up and moved out and hsvmy beautiful wife of 30 years passed away i recently dusted it off and with a new paint job and some spare parts added it is once again back in service! Thanks for the video

I love this build: I think you are definitely one of the very best modellers that I have seen. If there was a good A34 comet set in the same scale out there which I knew about I would be begging you to make many of them. I think that the modelling world is lacking in the British tanks even though the Brits invented tanks. Anyway you have just earned yourself a well deserved subscriber.

Awesome build, I've started modelling tanks again after your fantastic work!!! just a quick question. ..what clear coat do you use after painting, before the decals?? You mention 'doh coat' or something like that.. is it acrylic/enamel?? flat clear??
@kshatriya14144 жыл бұрын
Costin Motorcycle Engineering always use an acrylic clear coat over acrylic paint and for applying decals a gloss coat is the best. best brand of clear coat is Tamiya, Mr-Hobby, Vallejo (if you have an airbrush). Testors clear coat is also supposed to be really good.
@Emtbtoday4 жыл бұрын
