Great! I liked a lot the cardboard template. And the small cammo fine brush, gives live to the pattern. Hetzer always gives you good ideas to paint it!

Andy, thank you so much for this video. Santa just delivered this kit to me today for christmas (but i can't touch it until then). Love the hetzer, but was put off by the paint scheme and wasn't going to do such an elaborate camouflage. But your video has shown me it's not that bad, and there are always different ways of doing things. Again, thank you. keep them coming.

I always enjoy watching Andy hard at work,but,I have a few different ideas about track & hatch assembly.First we'll start off with hatch assembly.My favorite way to do hatches is to glue them all with white glue from underneath with them sitting in their closed position,That way,if you ever want to add crew or have engine decks open for a diorama,the hatches are easy to pop open.For individual link track,I take a wooden ruler(because they are dimensionally thicker to help guide track assembly),and tape that down along its length to hold it in place.Then run tape along side the ruler on both sides ,with the sticky side up.Then tape down the ends,so the tape stays in place.Get your track removed and cleaned up from the sprue,then stick it to the tape along the ruler edges to its proper length,then run glue along the length of track on both sides ,on the inside,next to the guide horns,Then let it sit for a few moments(2-3 minutes,and depending on your adhesive selection,2-3 minutes is pretty good)now with the road wheels already on the vehicle,slide a razor knife between the track and tape to( remove it from the tape)and drape it carefully over the roadwheels,join the track together,let it sit for a few more moments,then add your sag if so desired.Paint according to your taste and its all done.I don't mean to pee on Andy's parade,but doing it this way,assures that the track glue is going to dry at all the same time,and none of it should be too wet or too dried to install.Like i said Andy does an amazing job on his projects,and I would be proud to own one of his creations.

The disc camo is really tricky to pull off. First of all the matte, you need to take out the spaces in-between the circles, you apply your yellow with your green and brown spots and then you put the matte over your green and brown and spray yellow over your matte, filling in the spaces and thus creating all green and brown circles. But like I said, it’s really hard to do it right. The perforated cardboard works just as good and the handprinted dots look very natural. Great looking model...

Andy J's Work do two different 1/35 Hetzer camo scheme templates, one of which is the "cloud" pattern suitable as a direct replacement for the Academy kit templates which can be applied with or without autumnal triangles. The are easier to use than the kit template. In the J's Work "cloud" pattern template kit, a trianglular splinter template is included. The camo including tri colour splintering over cloud was factory applied. Nice build vid as always.

what a nice piece of art! your models are beautiful, and you make it seem so easy. I cant wait to get an airbrush, because i simply can't get a believable camo pattern using brushes so i paint my models in plain dark yellow, and i really want an ambush pattern, i looks so beautiful on a tank
@alessiodecarolis
@alessiodecarolis 4 жыл бұрын
Don't worry for the airbrush, a lot of AFV were issued from the factory in dark yellow plus some colours in paste, It was up the crew's initiative to paint the camo with wathever they had and old brooms were very useful

@@alessiodecarolis I know, but i wanted a nice transition between two tones. So i got one and boy did it make a difference. Plus, it makes painting the model much easier and it uses way less paint overall.

This is a nice little kit but be really, really careful with those little top wheels (not the main idler wheels, the other little ones. I can't remember what they're called). They only go on one way and it's really easy to get them horribly wrong. Thanks for your weathering tips Andy. I was looking to do basically the same thing but with the early model, top coated in _dunkelgelb_. I'm also planning to do a bit of shooting the airbrush through a partially loaded brush for splash effects.

@theblytonian3906

Ethan Ton The why is that it's also fairly accurate dimensionally depending upon whose argument one accepts as the word from the burning bush. Academy took the mean from both accepted as such reference sources, and split the difference down the middle. It looks like a Hetzer, the build quality isn't far off Tamiya excellence, it includes plastic part and link tracks, and the price is very, very right. Not knocking Tamiya's, but with the savings you can buy a bucketload of etch inc. metal barrel which revs Academy's up a notch above. Have a look at Artwox's comprehensive etch kit for this (late variant) kit which is what I used, although I confess mounting those microscopic casemate lifting hangers nearly drove me nuts.

Really nice model - One thing I would like to argue is, go easy on the weathering - first of all, just because it's a hard edge doesn't mean the paint should be chipped, secondly, vehicles are generally well maintained, so whenever you bring it in for say a oil checkup, the mechanics can slap a fresh coat of paint onto it. And, the paint they used was HARD, simply because it was supposed to protect the vehicle from the weather, which means there were quite little of the chipping, and most of it could be found a) wherever the crew entered and exited the vehicle, and b) around the wheels, since they stood in constant contact with shit that is strong enough to actually damage the paint. Another thing to remember is that many vehicles came into the field either brand new or refurbished, so they wouldn't have that kind of weathering, and since most vehicles didn't survive more than a few months, they wouldn't have had time to accumulate that much either. So go easy on the weathering. That said, tanks and other vehicles attract dirt like if they are 3 year old children, so with that you can go absolutely crazy. Oddly enough, most modellers seems to get this reversed - lot's of weathering, but stay cool with the dirt... All that said, there are exceptions, like the Syrian tanks in the civil war right now seems to hang together with only really good prayers to Allah, at least the older types they have used now for years. But even they are kept rolling.

@theblytonian3906
@theblytonian3906 7 жыл бұрын
+Half Fast Academy's value adding *included* "cloud" masking sheet looks fantastic in theory, but is difficult to use in practice IME. This is a difficult camo scheme to paint using masks, requiring positioning, application and removal in specific order. The *supplied* instructions for masking with them are inadequate for the novice. It can be done, but as supplied, they are definitely a 'measure thrice, cut once' tool. Although Academy's kit OOTB is aimed at the budget conscious modeller, it has 'good bones' which scrub up exceptionally well with addition of photo etch and a stencilling kit, the latter most important for *ease of application* of the autumnal cloud pattern ambush camo scheme IMO. J's Work's "cloud" variant should be available for under USD $10. It contains better, specific, detailed application instructions, plus it also contains a stencil for the triangular splinter application. Factory base coat of late Hetzers was red oxide undercoat. Seasonal camouflage schemes were applied at the two factories.
