But the rudder wasnt smaller than other ships. Look at Imperator for exemple, she had an even smaller one, was built after the disaster and was bigger. This shows, along with pictures of titanic turning at sea, that Olympic class liners were very manoeuverable.

Andy, what you should do with the 88mm tiger shell is to find out the correct weight of it and then fill it with lead so that any person wishing to pick it up will have an idea what a mission it was for the loaders to remove these from their racks and load them into the cannon in quick succession..

Man you took the words right out of my mouth with the overkill PE... I just want the brass parts and decking also.. doesn't look like the detail up set even has brass masts as there was available for smaller scale (1:350/400) versions. I started work on the hull there is probably easy a few weeks work you can do like finishing and drilling portholes. Also I think you can complete the first deck before having to worry about anything and still being able to lay the veneer decking. Pontos they layout nice have from 1:200 Bismarck complete set!

it should be noted the molded details to the "tiger tank" shell baseplate indicate it to be an 8.8cm flak 18 round...for the towed flak artillery piece..its not detailed for a tiger tank shellcase, and so should be painted grey steel, not brass.

It was not only the lack of lifeboats, it was more the English approach to sea/ships/paying passengers (of the time) - nothing was going to happen, music/food/wine/dancing/sea air - why train a crew to deal with an emergency, that never was going to happen!. Oh, the "screws" are actually propellers. The actual rudder was huge. I mean huge, by length (top to bottom- the scale does not do it service), it was a big ship, it needed a big turning blade. Pleasing to see the manufacturers present a product with detail, but that is Trumpeter.

I have a 1/350 scale Titanic which I have yet to build because I have so many kits that I want to get built before I build the Titanic. I probably will be building my 1/350 Lusitania. She was really a war ship if you study the history. It’s an older kit but still would be a good build.

This looks so much better than the mini craft titanic. I gave up on the kit the parts were warped and the fit was absolutely horrible. The hand rails were all moulded plastic that was way out of scale. They wanted you to heat the hand rails in hot water and bend them 90 to make corners. This kit looks nice I might get this and chuck the mini craft. Avoid it at all costs.
