Love these videos Andy, thank you for capturing what a different world it was back then on glorious VHS/other formats, the variety of motors on your footage is phenomenal! The camaraderie and non politically correct humour back then, sadly never to be repeated. Many thanks again

Thank you kind sir and yes it is so true they were an incredible bunch of lads and although it was the norm through out the industry then, today it makes some people cringe! Well I say tough. that was our way of dealing with the ludicrous hours, the always present danger and the sights we often saw.

Did you ever think when you were filming all these things that maybe one day in the future thousands of people might be watching them on futuristic magical personal TV's (computers and phones) or did you just think they'd be just for your own private viewing? It's funny because when you filmed these incidents and things they didn't mean much at the time but give it 35 years on and it does mean a lot. I have taken photos of the garages and vehicles I have worked at in my time which includes car, bus and hgv garages and I usually wait until I am on my own before I take photos but occasionally someone will see me and some people think it's sad but I say to them, it doesn't mean much now but just you wait 30 years if not more in the future when this bus / hgv garage is a block of flats or a shopping center, it'll mean a lot more then. Plus I couldn't care less if anyone thinks it's sad , that's their opinion and opinion is not fact. Good video as usual mate

Thanks for your kind words James and it is exactly as you say. I am so disappointed with myself that I did not do more especially on the big ones where I just had to concentrate on the job with no time for filming. However, the mind just thought it was a normal everyday event who on earth would want to look at this. Even now today when I am covering one of the Brooklands events it all seems so ordinary and apart from those taking part who would be interested? But in 40, or 50 years perhaps someone will be standing over my grave saying "well done mate loved seeing all those old petrol vehicles" 🙂

Lovely to hear from you after all this years. I clearly remember that first night after we collected it going to bed and thinking for the first time if the phone rings tonight the answer is yes! Whatever it is we can deal with it.
