Nice sales pitch for venture capitalists ! What sort of reactors would this Thorium-ANEEL utilize? The USA has recently cancelled its thorium-powered (NuScale) Small Modular Reactor project. Apparently too expensive to run, ie it was not cost-effective. How will the ANEEL idea overcome such cost hurdles ? Will ANEEL be planning small (quick build) reactors or something similar to UK's new Hinkley Point project?
@anmolsekhani7 ай бұрын
If USA has cancelled it. Does that mean we should abandon our research as well? Although expensive, the reserves are pretty good enough. Larger resources can help to marginalise the cost perspective. I think of it as an alternative and it should be worked upon.
@SiddharthRaiyani7 ай бұрын
Sales pitch? You make it sound like viewers of this video even has chance to buy that fuel and the real customers who might buy this fuel wont make decisions based on youtube video. Nuclear reactors are costly, very costly. The decision to use what fuel needs changes to reactor design too. Real customers will obviously need all the data before making any commitment.😅

You haven't said anything about the cost of energy generation by using thorium /aneel. Also you said the nuclear waste can be handled easily but how and will it be possible to use this fuel on a long run. This is important as now onwards every country is looking for a clean most energy generation to avoid contributions in global warming. India has land in abundance for solar and wind and also the long sea shore ( for wave energy) which are considered as the clean most energy sources.
@RameshMatham05076 ай бұрын
It is too early to talk about costs, but because we are using thorium, it will be cheaper than today's nuclear energy. It is my understanding that it is not difficult to handle wastes of thorium based fuels. I agree that wave energy (along with tidal and underwater current) should be encourage, but that is a separate topic. Thanks and regards,. Ramesh

I can't disagree with you. But the only scientific explanation needed here is the formula of the fuel, which the company says is its secret. Yet, I decided to talk about it because people like Dr Anil Kakodkar think there is something in the fuel, and it has been taken note of a few times in the Western media. Also, Clean Core has a tie-up with the Canadian nuclear establishment, which, even if preliminary, lends some credibility. When more details come out, I'll update you.

Had it been any other country that was in this unique situation where it has plenty of sources of POTENTIAL energy source at its disposal & at the same time it had to spend lot of its resources in importing EXISTING & PROVEN energy sources from another country, any other country would have developed & became a world leader in utilizing the ON HAND energy source. But unfortunately it is India that is endowed with this natural resource. So the world community at large had to wait for new technology to be developed by someone else who doesn't have this natural resource. India has traditionally has relied on technology transfer from others & never developed anything substantial.

It was reported that this Kalpakakm unit is close to being operationalized. But we need confirmed and updated news on it. 2. ANEEL looks definitely potential but we need to know how it is to be used in reactors- whether current reactors can take it or there is something else? Any response on ANEEL from our Atomic Energy Dept or any of our scientists? 3. Mehul can always start a company in India and promote ANEEL. Modi should invite him to India and two Guju bhai s can decide over fafda and jalebi on this project!!! Of course, the project should come to Maharashtra otherwise Shiv Sena of UBT will start accusing Modi of taking away all projects to Gujarat!! 4. India should look to convert all coal plants of 1960s and 70s to nuclear power plants - whether small nuclear reactors ( we are talking USA an France on this anyway!) or based on new technologies like ANEEL, if feasible. This is the fastest way forward to green energy for India. And we must focus more on our Thorium nuclear plants with gusto.
