I bought this one last year, absolutely love it!

That is so good to hear. One of the most rewarding things about our job is sharing some of the pleasure we get out of growing and telling people about garden gems like this. So, hearing that you "love it" too, is great to hear. Just remember, it likes a cool, moist (not wet) root run, so mulch it this spring to help the soil around it remain moist and cool and it should grow out to be even fuller and better.

I had wild swan in my yards for 4 years now. Do you recommend deadheading the seed heads after flowering ? I find that when September arrives, they are not as free flowering Thank you

Yes, dead heading (removal of old flower heads) will be beneficial, it might help to stimulate later flowering but it will certainly help to keep them bushier and tidier looking and help to encourage stronger clumps. Can it grow in full sun ? It reminds me on anemone Sylvestris which blooms in May/June

We've had fairly good results with it when we've tried in a sunny spots. If you decide to try it, it will be important to incorporate plenty of organic matter at planting time and mulch it well too, to help keep the roots cool and moist during any prolonged, dry, summer periods (and having a hose pipe or watering can handy would be good too). If it gets dry, it is not unusual to see summer dormancy kick in, with it re-emerging again in the cooler, moist conditions of autumn. Have you subscribed to our channel? Grows in the shade?
@OverdevestNurseries2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Yes, as you will see from this link to our Grown By Overdevest website: grownbyoverdevest.com/plant/wild-swan-japanese-anemone/ it does best in a partially (or lightly) shaded site. 🙂

Is it aggressive? I’m considering Honorine Jobert for its beauty, but reading that it can be a thug. I don’t want a thug. I want a beautiful, tall, white flower.
@OverdevestNurseries4 жыл бұрын
It is a clumping perennial that is not at all aggressive, it is a completely different type of Anemone: www.grownbyoverdevest.com/plants/wild-swan-japanese-anemone/ Flowers much earlier than Honorine Jobert and it only grows about 16-18" and is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and is highly recommended. Mind you, if you want "a beautiful, TALL, white flower", and don't mind it flowering in late summer and into the Autumn then 'Honorine Jobert' is hard to beat. Hopefully you will have room for both!
