I did just that...it bested the Fluke by at least 2 Counts ! The ANENG was tied with the SANWA PC700 on DC accuracy a multimeter that costs 300$ more. I will post them on the website in a couple of days. CHEAP-O has nothing to do with accuracy. The ANENG 620A is very accurate.

Multimeter technology is pretty easy to implement. People that buy Fluke these days are just paying extra for the name. I'd rather have a cheap meter that if it gets stolen or broken doesn't break my bank by having to replace it.

Cool review. Although there was no colour coding on the cables the screen did tell you what was what. The biggest two failures for me was the NCV and the lack of a stand. The graph for mains could have been used in other areas. I loved the red light warning but it could have had an audible beep that got quicker the closer to range you got. I won't be buying one. Thanks again, Darren! I'm not fond of this "new" style of meter, but Aneng seems to be doing more and more of them so perhaps they're becoming popular. I know people will get upset at me for this, but it sounded like you said, "these are your *atypical* probes you see with most of the Anengs." The word 'atypical' means not conforming to type, so I presume that you meant 'typical'? I'm not trying to nit-pick, as I sometimes learn something when people *politely* correct my many misstatements :).

Got mine a few days ago. At the price it's nice but it doesn't show that accuracy in low voltage DC mode like in your test but WELL within specs. As its type and price I really like it. You have a "but": in 2.08 you mention scratches. Mine came with a protective film covering the display with a snug pull tab (just at the letters "time" in the mul-TIME-ter txt at top right. Can be hard too see.) just like they all do and it was luckily scratch free. Incredible times where you can get so accurate stuff for so low prices for low voltage work! :)

Well its got a few little flaws, but it seems the smart meters are getting better with every iteration. Really dumb they dont have any kind of a stand, but there might be an interference issue with those leads sticking out the bottom. Has some good points though, as is often the case it gets down to the fact there are more handy and useful meters available for the same money. To all these meter manufacturers, either make an NCV function that works right or leave it off alltogether and put the effort into a longer backlight or a stand, something more useful.

It’s definitely an improvement comparing to ANENG 618C. But I don’t see the point of a bigger screen. It’s even less informative without the bar graph than it was before. The bottom part of it just shows static information. It’s not a touchscreen so they couldn’t put no buttons there. I mean it’s nice to have a big dual display with a big font. Yet it looks like they didn’t know how to utilize all that space properly. Not to mention that it’s a cheap display with bad viewing angles. That being said, your reviews have changed my mind about Aneng. They might skimp on decent input protection but provide good spec for the price. And I like how they’re not afraid to try something new. It’s just a difficult thing to do in a cheap-o budget.
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, a waste of screen real estate. Too bad Aneng didn't think this one out more. I think the design has alot of potential but in its current un-touchscreen incarnation it misses the point. That being said, they'll probably sell a ton if them just because it's different.

Cool, all LCD (lithium battery is the best for the huge LCDs multimeter I think. All those details in one glance is very efficient), I wish it was OLED and colored (I suggested that to Kaiweets), I think Kaiweets pioneered this smartphone form factor multimeters (correct me if I'm wrong, when did you start seeing this smartphone design on multimeters?). I know Kaiweets and Zotek are OEM manufacturers they make products for other brand (most other brands are made and designed by Zotek & Kaiweets but rebranded and usually cheaper than Zotek and Kaiweets) but would you know if Aneng is also an OEM manufacturer for other brands. Speaking of that if that's safe, do an episode whereby you identify which are the real manufacturers, the OEM manufacturers who manufacture for other cheapo but decent brand, identifying the rebranded model by which other brand. :-) God bless, Rev. 21:4

@@KeepOnTesting Agreed. In the US you could probably work even on your normal residential AC with it, as you have most likely not more than 240V AC there. Here in Europe three phases with 400V between them and 230V between phase and neutral is standard. 5x20mm fuses are only rated at 250V. Problem is, 100 times a second you have up to 325V: 50 times positive and 50 times negative, as we have 50Hz net frequency and a phase angle of 120° compared to the 60Hz 180° in the US. For electronic projects below 100V I deem this meter good to use. But the temptation to grab it for a repair of a device that is mains connected will always be there. You only have to be the unfortunate user who experiences arcing within this thing and it disintegrates in your hand. A 6x32mm or better a 10x38mm fuse is still a better choice to build in. And the CAT ratings are a good indicator of safety as well. I don't use anything below CAT 3. But even that is questionable, if there is a 5x20mm fuse inside, so I always look for that as a sign of safety and build quality.
@KeepOnTesting
@KeepOnTesting 3 жыл бұрын
@@wiedapp Great info..!👍 Thx for the European mains update.. As always, use extreme caution and don't forget to be safe first and foremost around any voltage over 100v. European regulations are stricter than North American standards and for good reason. 🙄 I do believe the Aneng is fine for standard household repairs. Bigger fuses, MOVs and PTCs are always better but as you're probably aware, in the CHEAP-O Realm..there's usually not much in the way of upgrades in the input protection department.

All that screen real-estate and they used a ton of it for fixed text to mark the inputs and to note the resolution count, but not to offer a bar graph? Oh, but the poor NCV gets its own fake bar graph? Terrible choices, Aneng/Zotac/whoever, but it might win my award for most wasteful use of LCD area to date ;).

Pretty dumb to waste a quarter of the screen on static text that could've have been on the case instead and have the leads on the front which would also allow for a stand. Feels like they just wanted to use a full size screen as a marketing trick.

Dear Friends, I bought the ANENG 620A from aliexpress, but the multimeter is measuring voltages incompletely. It shows AC 225 volts and AC 215 volts. Same problem with DC voltages. DC 10V adapter shows DC 9.31V. Diode value measurements are also missing. How to calibrate this device? This multimeter is garbage.
