Always room for a pocket meter. The big question with both models you showed is what do you do with the leads when you stick it in your pocket? Thanks for the review!

Hi Eric! Ouch. Good question! 👍

Have they fixed the nasty bug of M118? In the voltage mode, if the input voltage is between 20 and 40 V, the input resistance drops to 5..10 kOhm, creating a huge leak.
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
I'll report back on that..fingers crossed!

@@KeepOnTesting Apply 25 V to the probes in auto mode and check the current consumption.

Would also heating the neodymium magnet with a soldering iron and forcing it into the plastic work?
@pault6533Ай бұрын
The magnetism of neo magnets is reduced by the temperature required to melt plastic. 😢

@pault6533 right then, drilling it is!

Paul beat me to it..hehe

is it possible to check the ampere ?
@KeepOnTesting6 күн бұрын
Only mA 60-600, as I mentioned in the review.

Maybe next u can review dt131a, and compare it with aneng m118a Both is auto but m118a has too many error problem
@ruikazane5123Ай бұрын
Just how it looks...pretty shoddy to say at least. Seems like a variation of the Aneng I have (M118A?) that does a proper current range (otherwise you need atleast 20mA to activate the current reading in auto mode, there is no override to current mode!) Nice work on the magnets, but don't forget about some epoxy or glue!
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
Thx ! I used some Araldite epoxy to secure the lil suckers! Yep the M119 is definitely underwhelming 😅

SZ308 is a rebadged DT832 in a fancy casing.
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
Basically! Those 830xx were definitely hard to beat design wise. 👍

@@KeepOnTesting Yes, but I had an interesting case that can't be explained. Mastech M832, everything inside in ideal condition, but... the ADC chip was shorted on a lot of lines, both analog and digital (but not power). After replacing it with an ordinary 7106 the device started up, but the op amp in the beeper circuitry turned out to be fried as well. How???
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
Interesting...not sure how the circuit was initially compromised, but you never can be 100% sure about faults until you actually start testing..makes life interesting! 😮

Meh not my cup of tea. This would not replace the XL830L I keep in my car toolbox. They are dirt cheap but tough with the rubber boot that comes on them. My wife got me a DMT-99 for Christmas. Can't wait to try it out.
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
Oh you're gonna love that DMT-99! 😊

Not the best is it, surprising the amount of meters out there without a tilt stand, even some of the more expensive ones.
@KeepOnTestingАй бұрын
I'll never understand why they can't provide a tilt stand or magnetic backing 😕 👍

Not matching the (self claimed!) specs in the most relevant, basic function of a DMM - measuring DCV - is an absolute showstopper. Even for a cheapie that means: Sudden death! Anything else after that just doesn´t matter. Slava Ukraini!
