Hey it's Pete 2.0 😁😉 have to say mate that you do look much healthier which is what you need after your scare a while back so well done mate 👏👏 I need to do the same really as I've put on quite a bit over the past couple of years. The Kiwami3 looks a nice gun and apart from the hook on the top it looks the same as the W300, the fan pattern is bigger than the W300 so hopefully will spar well, looking forward to seeing it in action 👍 Have you seen the new Iwata WS-400 & LS-400 Series 2 mate, lovely looking gun with a digital gauge in the handle that's removable, due to be released on the 1st June 😎👍
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
Hi John, knowing what i know now with all the NHS education etc it makes a huge difference both physically and on the vital organs, so yeah, try and keep those pounds off it you can. Yes, I have seen the new WS400, it's a Kiwami4 mixed with a WS400 by the looks of it, didn't know the digital gauge was removable though but haven't watched all the video, I suspect it will spray the same as the old one but maybe they have addressed the not liking full fan bit. I also expect it will be an horrendous price but we will see. Have you got your compressor sorted now? 👍
@JohnWD40TC022 жыл бұрын
Problem is if you have health issues it's hard to do much exercise but I'm not to overweight at 5'10" and 12stone but could be better. Yeah the digi gauge is in the handle (like the sata) and you twist it off to remove for cleaning, obviously they claim it's the best thing since sliced bread but IMO the manufactures are reaching a point where these guns can't get any better but who knows, as for the price I guess it will be sata money 🤔 Only way to completely sort my compressor is to chuck it in the nearest skip 😂 I would get one the same as yours but all I have is a 240V 13A supply into my shed and everything runs from that, extraction, lights and heater, I'm worried that the belt drive one will take a power surge at each start up and blow all the fuses even though mine and the belt drive are both 3HP 2.2KW but again I had to install all new fittings (yeah my idea didn't work) using liquid ptfe and epoxy glue around them to help keep them tight 🤦♂️😂

Where do you take your supply from in the house? , a ring main socket?
@JohnWD40TC022 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wired it into a socket in the kitchen ring main, drilled a hole through the wall and fitted a water proof 13A socket outside. I think the ring main should be 32A but I'm still limited to the 13A plugs/sockets.
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
If you change the outside socket to a twin 13amp outside socket or better still a twin 16amp commando fitting and run 2 cables at the same time to your booth into a 16amp trailing socket x 2 with a trailing lead off one to a 13amp trailing socket for the smaller stuff you will be ok, use 2.5 mm cables on both leads and your good to go, make sure the cable from the kitchen ring to the outside socket is at least 2.5mm or double 1.5mm and you'll be fine, well, as long as your not boiling a kettle and cooking a turkey at the same time as your painting 😀

Hi, I have really enjoyed your informative youtube videos on painting. I'm considering getting the W300-WB1 but this video makes the newer version sound better. Although I have some experience spray painting, I have never attempted a complete small car. I have a smaller compressor (7cfm @100psi) and this gun seems appropriate. Solvent based paints are still available in my area (US). Any suggestions before buying this gun?
@peteshobbies5383 Жыл бұрын
Hi James, these both use a fair amount of air for a relatively small output so you will struggle if your planing on doing a small car. They would seem quite slow , the finish is excellent, if you are planning on doing it in stages then they would be ok.
@jameswatson2998 Жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks for the quick response. It is difficult to interprept each gun's specs and how they relate to real usage. I'm planning on a flat color with matte clear finish though I don't have any experience shooting a matte clear. Seems like a flat color would be easier to manage with my compressor though. I suppose you mean by being slow that it will be difficult to keep a wet edge on larger surfaces if I don't have enough cfm to move it along. Probably painting car while on rotisserie and doors/bonnets separately anyway. Am I hoping for too much with my compressor setup? Different gun maybe?
@peteshobbies5383 Жыл бұрын
I would suggest a Kiwami4 with BA4J cap, it uses a little more air than the W300 gun's but is much faster, by that I mean the material output is much more so will allow you to cover an area faster so your compressor will work less
@jameswatson2998 Жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 That's an interesting idea that I would not have thought of, using a higher transfer rate gun to reduce compressor load. I'll look into it! BTW- I liked your compressor video especially the bit about how the best gun will not paint well unless you completely treat the feed air to the gun. Wise advice. The filter rack doesn't ship to the US so will have to find a replacement. Thanks again for your videos and guidance.

You're welcome James, glad you watched the video on air quality, it really is important as contaminants coming through the line will ruin a paint job. I get people who message me on Instagram and Facebook with photos or videos of problems with their work, 50% or more is poor air quality so definitely spend money on that first, cheers 👍

Hi, Pete. I'm tempted by this. Am I right in thinking that there's no import duty for spray guns from Japan to the UK, just vat?
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee, yes, it's just vat and a handling charge, depends on courier but its around £12 gbp handling fee, you don't always get it but be prepared as sometimes you do, also in Japan they only have 1.4 versions and the best is 1.2, but, if you turn the fluid down a little on the 1.4, still full fan, then it behaves the same as a 1.2, if you use full fluid it's still ok but just doesn't atomise as well, great for factory finish though
@leebroderick96682 жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks, Pete. This is definitely on the list of high consideration for next purchase. (I may have just blown this month's budget, already, by buying a ws400 2.0). Assuming they don't bring out the kiwami3 in the UK I'll be interested in seeing your review and comparing it to the WB. I'm a smart repair tech and I'm hoping that one of these may be the solution for laying down metallics on smaller areas.
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
@@leebroderick9668 Oh, nice, the new WS is on my list, be interesting to here what you think, yes, this and the DV1s in excellent for blending in fine metallics as the both atomise really fine, or the LPH80 but it struggles with bigger areas as it output is low
@leebroderick96682 жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 Yep, the LPH80 is what I use now - it's a solid gun that's good over small areas but struggles over larger. Metallics on a door take a lot of coats and a lot of blending. I also struggle to consistently get a good lacquer finish with it (again, especially on whole panels, but that's basically me using the wrong tool for the job).
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it funny how many people tell me " you can use a LPH80 for a full panel" , of course you can, but it slow and hard work, especially if it's warm as you struggle to get enough on, be interesting to see what you think of the new WS, I suspect it will spray very similar or the same as the Kiwami4 WB but we will see, cheers 👍

Nice comparison Pete, good to see you on camera which feels like ages, I was going to say the WB had more of an I pattern compared to the W300, I see your using a new regulator rather than the ANI, this looks like a proper regulator vs the ANI which really just restricts the air flow, the regulator must be much better especially as you close the trigger right off when you come to the end of the panel and back on again for your next pass (not a criticism just an observation as I do the same 😂) It sounds like it prevents that sudden release of air from the gun when you fist press the trigger like you get with the ANI. I think I answered my own question with that statement. Cheers Pete.
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve, yes, it's the new slim line me 😂🤣, 3 1/2 stone lighter and fit as a fiddle 💪 It's a Meiji regulator and as you say isn't as crude as the ANI one's although it is more money. I find putting the regulator on my filter set as low as it will go to achieve the correct pressure for the gun helps with the sudden pressure surge when you pull the trigger and keeps the pressure at the gun even all the time, i used to have it set higher but someone on KZbin pointed it out and it works great so do it all the time now 👍
@Cavalier_Steve2 жыл бұрын
@@peteshobbies5383 I thought you had lost a lot of weight but I didn’t like to say, silly of me really! After all it would have been a compliment. That’s a good idea, I have a regulator on my compressor so I could use that!
@peteshobbies53832 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that should work OK, it really makes a difference and allows the compressor to get low on air without affecting the pressure at the gun, for example I turn the compressor off once it's built up to pressure so it doesn't use energy, with something like the LPH80 you only need to let it fill once and that's it and no drop at the gun. Yeah, I know what you mean, if someone looks like they have lost loads of weight you don't like to say anything because they may be ill , as you know i had a bit of a scare a few months ago and just really watch what i eat, plenty of exercise and the weight just falls off, I haven't felt this good in years 😅, cheers mate 👍
