He was 24 when he was killed. He would've only gotten better his playing would've matured. He composed parts of this solo in his teens. Thats why IMO hes the best that ever lived.

Somewhere I saw an interview with I can't remember if it was James or Lars when they were trying to form a band. He said, they were were walking down a street in California and heard this crazy guitar sound comming from an establishment then walked in to see Cliff shreading on the bass. Right then they knew they needed him. The next 2 were great, but couldn't hold a candle to Cliff. He was the Hendrix of the bass. RIP my good man.

Being 48 years old, I know of more 'non' Cliff Metallica than I do otherwise, but Cliff will ALWAYS be.....not just the bassist of Metallica.....But his potential was barely tapped into......it's fucking insane! I remember my first viewing of Cliff 'Em All on VHS......I cried my eyes out...….

I think Cliff was the songwriting powerhouse of the band. Mop was the peak and ajfa wasn't bad but after that it's a nosedive imo. The black album was commercially a great album but for Metallica it was like they tried to be the heavy metal version of blink 182.

I always wondered that if Cliff was alive today if he would have cut his hair off for the Load cover album. I think not. Cliff would have been like y’all cut your hair I’m keeping mine. Plus I believe the Load album would have had a totally different sound and feel if Cliff was still alive. He was the driving force behind the epic Metallica sound from the first three albums. R.I.P. I always loved Cliff's thrashing...one of the best...he never stopped on stage. Him and Tom Araya (before neck surgery) were the two best bass player thrashers. I saw Cliff play Anesthesia live in 1986 - one of my all-time live highlights.

Rich did you ever own the vhs tape of Cliff ‘em All? I must have seen that tape about 200 times and one day my vcr ate it ripped it and so I took that vcr to the backyard and hammered it to pieces. Bought a new vcr and Cliff ‘Em All tape all over again🤘🏽 I was one passionate mother f’er!
