first of all , thank you very for documenting and respecting our ancient martial art practitioners. I am from a village in point Pedro but am now living in England as I am from a family of 8th generation practicing tradition where they practiced siddha ( mani, manthira, owdakam) Varmakkalai, my grandad and other teachers had taught us and everyone knows in my village. it’s a tradition continued till 1994 though in between we could not continuously Learnt them as of civil. Many skilled teachers died and left country. As before all , I have to mention the history of it , according to siddhars’ scriptures, lord Siva was ruler of the Kumari Kandam( lumuria) and was the heard of first and second sangam , then he became a siddha. That’s big long story, well leaving it, We have many siddhars but 18 of them are main ones for them all , lord Siva is the Gurunathar. there were three lineage, Nantheesar, Thirumoolar and Agathiyar ( Agatheesan ) of whom. Nantheesar was the first disciple , the second thirumoolar and Agathiyar came, according to Agathiyar, to him, Siddha arts and Tamil language was taught by lord Murugan in Pothikai Malai and asked him to make some changes in the grammar of the Tamil language. As these arts fall into some wrong hands and gained bad name chew Nadu and that n this. It is a combination of medical, Spritual , martial tradions. One that practices never shows off and becomes a Spritual seeker. Siddhars blessings for all that read!!
