Ya know what makes the scene even better but also more heart wrenching? Apparently Sarah's performance was so intense that David starts actually trying to comfort her instead of playing Angel comforting Buffy. He even whispers Sarah's name if you watch his lips closely

Fangsabre yeah it was confirmed when SMG was asked in the reunion .. or maybe it was when she went to bones set .... either way it’s proven SMG was team Angel all the way, also Sarah and David were super close, playing pranks etc the scene in this ep when she drops the ice cream on him was her joking around but it was kept in So yeah in that final moment Boreanaz could see the emotion (the read through and rehearsals/other takes were shorter and SMG was so upset that they kept rolling) and during it Boreanaz does say “Sarah please” U need to watch and listen carefully preferably with earphones - I think this trumps when Buffy kills angel , marginally, but the “Bangel theme music” (close your eyes) being used was even more heart wrenching

Well, it's true both Angel and Buffy had a really hard time in this episode, but at least Buffy has Willow and Xander, and Angel has Doyle and Cordy. This is one of my most favourite episodes of Angel ever!! So heartbreaking but just to see how things could be for them is a blessing in a way 💕 just frustrating 😬 just to think after this episode in Buffy is when her romance starts with Riley, well Riley realises he likes Buffy so they start to interact more, leading to romance, oh if only 🙈

A truly memorable episode for the Bangel couple's fans. We have seen our two beloved ones get really happy ... and then go back to the starting point. Did Angel make the right choice? Perhaps yes in the end. Buffy would have done the same? Difficult to say ..... If you listen well to the dialogue before the "rewinding of time" you can hear Angel calling Buffy "Sarah", this is because SMG seems to be really crying at the end. Years later she actually admitted that she had always preferred Angel to Spike as a boyfriend for her Buffy ...... as for me I say that both the Bangel and the Spuffy will always remain in my heart Together with Buffave (Buffy + Dave)

I'm not a Bangel fan at all ( I probably was a bit when this episode first aired), but this episode is such a tragic tearjerker that I feel the feels anyway. Until I stop and remember how pissed off I am at Angel for wiping Buffy's memory without her consent. ( yeah ok was erasing the day, but same effect/principle). Angel's choice totally whether to remain human or not it's his life/unlife - but messing with other people's memories, boy do characters in the Buffyverse have a problem with that. Don't do it again you naughty boy! Great reaction btw - such exhilaration at the beginning when Buffy shows up, such sorrow at the end :( I love your exuberant reactions.

I just realized something.. angel left buffy in the first place because she "deserved someone who could take her into the light" and now that he can, he still can't be with her because he will be a liability and thinks she will get killed from trying to protect him. I always got pissed off when angel broke up with her but their relationship was 'in a way' truly a forbidden love and doomed to fail :(

Unpopular opinion: this episode makes me really mad at Buffy. She manages to take a momentous occasion in Angel's life and make all about her. Does it affect her? Yes. But she basically says that she fantasized about Angel turning human for her own sake, not for his, and complains that the reality wasn't living up to her ecpectations, and that makes me.... grrr.

Joshua LeonardoASMR most of my thoughts are based on their conversation at the table. She says something like "gee, I'm glad I haven't imagined you turning human 1000 times, or today would have been a real let-down." In other words, she does not care about Angel turning human for his own sake, she just wants sex and picknicks in the sunshine. She never asks what Angel wants, it's all about how Angel can suit her needs. You're right that Angel doesn't seem to mind, but frankly Angel tends to turn a blind eye a lot of Buffy's faults. That doesn't make Buffy' s behavior any less problematic.

I'll admit I really really don't like Buffy and Angel as a couple, so I may be looking at this episode with a very different perspective. The reasons why I don't like them together are too many to get into here, but I assure you, they are firmly rooted in what happens on the show(s), not in any of my personal relationship drama of mine. I think that even if you love them as a couple, you still have to address the fact that Buffy is uncomfortable with the idea that Angel is a vampire, as evidenced when she says that she daydreamed about him turning human all the time (among other things). What does that say about the way she thinks about him?

If Angel had really cared about Buffy, he would have never agreed to the spell in the first place. Or … he could have told her what happened after the spell went into effect, just as I had pointed out in a previous paragraph. Or he could have told her what he was considering, before he allowed the Powers to Be remove her memories and turn back time. But he did not, because he simply viewed Buffy as a child who had to be controlled … by him. ”I Will Remember You” strikes me as a good example of why I have never been a fan of the Buffy/Angel romance. It has always seemed like an unequal relationship that was never able to develop into an equal one. This episode also reminded me that many seemed to prefer a fictional romance that featured between an infatuated adolescent female and lovesick older man obsessed with her youth and his need to be controlling. To me, the relationship was nothing but a patriarchal wet dream. And Angel’s actions in both the ”BUFFY” episode, ”Pangs” and this episode seemed to confirm this.
