Hey y’all! Just putting it out there that this video covers STRICTLY the show and it’s content, and not the people behind it. I am not trying to defend the actions of those that created Hazbin (that’s another video ENTIRELY)- I am simply speaking on things which I feel I have proper jurisdiction to do so (the fictional). Again, if you don’t like hazbin because of the actions of those behind it, that is 10000% valid. Have a good day y’all❤️

I legit thought you were gonna rip into this one Poison parody on YT called "Poison but it's Honest"; I don't think it would be necessary for yoy to do, as it legit just says "ThIs SoNg RoMaNtIcIzEs AbUsE" like 50 times & the comments are pretty much just people flipping off this interpretation of the song & explaining why the parody is incorrect. They even got the gd Verblase jokes wrong in the chorus, as the singer claims that he worked on the show?? BRO WAS JUST A HORNY FAN!! 🤦🏻🤦🏻

They're not romanticizing abuse, they're bringing/giving awareness to abuse!

That is absolutely horrible, I hate when artists do things like that because it has the potential to bastardize their own creation

And that obviously makes the entire show & angel’s entire storyline awful and romanticizing abuse/sar

And. Noncon is just a kink/fetish. It doesn't say anything about a person. In fact, a lot of sexual abuse survivors develop noncon kink and other fetishes due to trauma they've experienced.

It was actually was one of the storyboard artist who made noncon art of Angel

One storyboard artist has very little control over a project. There's no way they can add elements without the ok of others.

as an abuse survivor (not the exact kind of abuse as angels though but I still feel it fits) myself, i never thought angel was romanticizing, in fact, I felt very seen there

I've been through SA before and I acted exactly like an Angel the exact situation as him. Im a real life Angel. I met my Husk almost two years ago. We are still together ❤ I constantly make over sexual jokes just like him and I can switch on my mask around people.

for real. sexual abuse & non-state torture survivor here, i honestly never understood why people said it was romanticizing abuse. i literally kept watching poison on repeat because something about it really spoke to me.

Doesn't he literally say it's POISON? Like, he's being drugged. He's literally suicidal because of it "I wish I had something to live for tomorrow" What are these ppl on?? (not creator ofc)

I never even once thought the character of Angel was "Romanticizing Abuse", i always perceived him as a character meant to bring awareness to it, i thought it was pretty clear.

Addict came out while I was still with my abuser. The song always resonated with me on a deep emotional level...and I never let myself really feel why. I didn't know about the final verse at first but when my friend on the outside pointed it out the echo in my own heart was too strong to ignore. It wouldn't be until 3 years later that I would escape that relationship. Poison released shortly after I cut most communication and it hit me so hard. Then the show came put and we got the context around the song...and I finally understood just how horrid things were and could feel all the hurt that I had been shoving down, even recognizing a much darker aspect of the relationship I denied since the night we got together. I am very thankful of this depiction of the twisted reality of domestic violence and am slowly healing.

Nowadays people cannot see something bad depicted in media without claiming that it’s being glorified/romanticized

Personally as a domestic violence/abuse survivor I very heavily realted to the nuance and complexities of angels situation. My situation wasn't anything much like angels abusive relationship. However, many of the main ideas hit hard for me. The lows and the highs, the gaslighting and the lovebombing, the feeling dependent on your abuser. I really appreciate the fact you pointed out the complex and and messy nature of abuse. Ofc everyone is entitled to their own opinions, survivors arent and never have been one collective. I guess i just wanted to give my two cents, thank you for this video.

People for some reason think that having a character in whatever you're making is the same as supporting what the character went through or the character itself. People have no reading skills I swear. It's not the first time I see people accusing a creator of "romanticizing" abuse or "fet1shizing" them. Some creators on tumblr, one I followed (I left because tumblr's ceo is a huge a$$hole), Emmettverse, actually experienced a lot of backlash for even having an intersex character, and daring to draw him s3xually. People police characters as if they were real people or made a clear statement on the creator's personality and morals.

Like, I was only in a toxic relationship for a year, but looking back I can see that if I hadn't left sooner and met the person in real life, I have no doubt that I would be in an abusive relationship like Angel's. This person was always pissed off when I didn't respond to their messages, always saying how much they wanted to "do that" with me, even asking for "photos"... in the end I ended it because he was very controlling and aggressive, and God damn me I'm free from it. When I saw the scene of the messages that Val sent to Angel I remembered this person... I thank you for making this video, it really irritates me to see people say that the episode romanticizes sexual abuse when the episode openly shows how horrible that is... that doesn't excuse the fact that Storyborder is a fan of noncon...

The scene where Husk rejected him for good and Angel has a total meltdown always reasonated with me, deeply. The crazed laughing and eyes, and the frantic movements and the way he is trying to convince HIMSELF that there was nothing wrong with him. That everyone in Hell wanted a piece of him and that dictated his worth and it's....so sad. It's literally seeing a downwards spiral of someone that found some kind of confort in how he surrounded himself with people that wanted to have sex with him (or downright take advantage of him, like those sharks at the end) amd when confronted by not only direct rejection, but a full on call out he just can't take it. This persona he made to protect himself from the trauma just....fractures.
