Shut Up Kiss Me is my fave song on one of my all time fave Angel albums. I love how she can rock out with such passion and still be true to herself. It doesn't sound like a forced departure from her indie folk roots but just another facet on the rotating musical diamond that has finally been revealed. The heart and soul that she evokes on acoustic guitar makes a seamless leap to electric. On All Mirrors she would reveal yet another side to her that is just as fascinating and enjoyable. Angel, you don't need to give more attitude. Your attitude is on point and just as sexy and badass as the rest of you. ❤

The Pixies, for a start and about a hundred other bands from the era - but if all you know is what was on top 10 radio in the 80's, you won't recognize any of the influences here in the production. But this song, while early-mid 80's in arrangement, is actually rooted more in the mid-60's - early 70's, melodically, with some early 90's Breeders influence, as well. Point is, it's just a great song.

I love this video, because it not only clearly flow with the music but also accurately represnts Olsen's personality, both artistically and personally: right from the girl's extreme wig ripe for halloween to her rollerblading hobby almost no one shares and even as far as to the small bar she almost weekly attends, which tell us about the acting lenghts Olsen's happy to pursue in her work, down to the last instrumental montage that's most probably made of outttakes, which tells us all about the fun Olsen had on the set recording it. The music is as haunting and heart-on-her-sleeve as it always was with music and arrangements that make for actual communication. And the message? Angel Olsen isn't going to lose.

First time I heard this song I only heard one or two lyrics at the end of episode 5 season 2 of The Great on Hulu, about five minutes ago and had to find it on KZbin. Love it. I see from the comments below I’m only 5 years too late.

Not all Angel Olsen songs are like shut up and kiss me. They remind me of Mazzy Star among other artists, but they've achieved an original sound. Personally, I think they mostly play alternative rock/folk rock (also this video has an almost punky attitude) and T. Rex is more glam rock/classic rock.

Andrew Carson - Big T. Rex fan here and yes Angel has that in this song (heavy on the E chords) but in some of her other work her voice is very folksy especially reminding me of John Jacob Niles or even Slim Whitman. What a talent! She's the real deal, I want to catch her show.
