I have a hard time with Reese calling out critics for her antics by essentially saying "I don't care what people say about what I do, I talk trash on the court, you need to get over it" when her team wins and then complaining about the criticism and fan reaction she gets when her team loses. I also think it's telling that she said "when *I* won the national championship," rather than "we." She wasn't even the best player on her team in that game, let alone the best player on the court.

I enjoy when players take on the villain role, but you can't have it both ways.

I played baseball from age 5-12, then softball from 13-14. I had mostly boys for teammates in baseball (predictably), and if I wanted to be taken seriously I had to work hard, play hard, and keep my emotions under control. Little League doesn't carry the same stakes as college ball, but for a lot of kids it feels pretty darn similar. When my 12-year-old team lost in the play-offs, I didn't cry. The ref made a huge mistake which resulted in me getting concussed and unable to play. Also our coach was a newb- we'd mostly been doing well because most of us had been extremely well-trained by our previous coach. Unfortunately training couldn't save us from bad decision making at the coaching level. It was extremely frustrating to watch the trainwreck which was that game happen from the bench, while having a splitting headache and extreme nausea, but I still maintained a positive attitude and actively encouraged my teammates. At the end of the game, we genuinely congratulated the winners for playing a good game (it wasn't their faults the adults had made mistakes, so there was no call to be upset with the other team). If I could do it at twelve, Angel Reese ought to be able to do it as an adult. Did I express my displeasure when I got home? Oh yeah. But not until then. Be gracious, be mature, and save your breakdown until you're in private. You can have emotions. Be angry. Be upset. Whatever. Just don't inflict that on everyone else.

I agree this was pretty pathetic, however, I will give her props. She played the role well. Women just aren't cut out for villain roles psychologically the way men are. Like you said though, her reasoning was pretty bad.

I was wondering how many people watched. Thanks for sharing. I actually signed up for ESPN ( for the free trial!) so I could watch the Elite 8. Ha! You should have seen me play women's basketball in college 🤣🤣We were awful. Remember League of our Own? We actually had coaching on how to act like ladies-how to dress sit and walk. OMG

Caitlin is going to do the same thing after they play Carolina. When she cries are you going talk about her talking trash and making gestures. My wife cries when some commercials come on.

No person can take being bullied by the entire world. Angel was asked a specific question, and she answered it. The fact that judgements about a young woman's character keeps making the news cycle, is proof enough for me. And that's what she is - a young woman. Everyone trash talks in sports and tempers get lost. Clearly, Angel is covering up a lot of internal sensitivity with a coat of armor - it's an act. She has a right to cry, if she wants to. Why do we need to comment about it?

When the counter-example is D-Day, we might be expecting a bit too much from people on a sports team. Almost everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that Reese did not bring up the situation she has been facing. How did Reese say she was the victim? Because she said she is the target of death threats? "Don't dish it if you can't take it"... Did she throw death threats at other players? Did she sexualize them? And she did a lot less crying than you guys in this segment. Waah! Waah!

Angel Reese is human but not Devine. Catlin is the best player in women's basketball. Angel needs to get over herself.

So stupid. Villians are multidimensional. Mike Tyson cries every two days on his podcast. He has a villain persona. I don’t see anyone bashing him for it.
