They did an excellent job portraying her. She always resonated with me because I was abused for several years. Her demeanor and PTSD, and I feel for her.

James is quite a considerate guy towards Angela really, he really does try to be caring.

@@kjo1543 no, each of them has some kind of guilt and that's the reason for them being lured in, but each of them is different. Angela ends up giving up and being stuck in her personal hell forever. Eddie succumbs to his psychosis and it's only James who stood up against his guilt, overcame it and decided what to do next for himself.

@lxdead5585 but still the same!? Angela is a reflection of James suicidal thoughts. And eddie his murder of his wife. The nurses are James memories of when he probably cheated on his wife witu hospital nurses while she was on her death bed. Maria is exactly what James wished his wife would be or what he fantasized about. Sure he did overcame his guilt, but NEVER was he a normal person to begin with. "Don't get a holy on me James. This town called you too!".

He is definitely empathetic towards her, but I don't think he can truly comprehend the turmoil that she went through.

Angela wanted someone to go that extra mile for her, to fight for her... So she could see that beam of hope. James, while being nice and "caring", was not able to connect with Angela on a deeper level. She hestitated many times, trying to figure if trusting him was worth it... But she felt he was too unsure of himself. She gave up hope.

v/a directions is flat and emotionless, some of scenes were made dark for sake of being dark (cuz it's a horror - too bad BT don't understand psychological horror behind source material). It's like taking Jacob's Ladder and remaking it into "Conjuring 4".

It's crazy Bloober actually pulled it off huh? I love that the haters got proven wrong. They picked a good actress to get Angela right.

I think the remake did good, but some of Angela’s voice acting falls flat compared to the original voice actress. Especially in the staircase scene which, on the original VA’s part, was surprising well voice acted, like she really believed what she was saying and held contempt for James for pretending(?) to care for her but also being unable or possibly unwilling to “save” her. She’s passable though.
