Angela Davis and Assata Shakur's Lawyer Denounce FBI's Adding of Exiled Activist to Terrorist List

www.democracynow.org - One day after the exiled former Black Panther Assata Shakur became the first woman named to the FBI's Most Wanted Terrorist List, we're joined by another legendary African-American activist, Angela Davis, as well as Shakur's longtime attorney, Lennox Hinds. Davis, a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is the subject of the recent film, "Free Angela & All Political Prisoners." She argues that the FBI's latest move, much like its initial targeting of Shakur and other Black Panthers four decades ago, is politically motivated. "It seems to me that this act incorporates or reflects the very logic of terrorism," Davis says. "I can't help but think that it's designed to frighten people who are involved in struggles today. Forty years ago seems like it was a long time ago. In the beginning of the 21st century, we're still fighting around the very same issues -- police violence, health care, education, people in prison." A professor of Criminal Justice at Rutgers University, Hinds has represented Shakur since 1973. "This is a political act pushed by the state of New Jersey, by some members of Congress from Miami, and with the intent of putting pressure on the Cuban government and to inflame public opinion," Hinds says. "There is no way to appeal someone being put on the terrorist list."

"She's NOT a terrorist and *did not Murder a law enforcement officer execution-style*. The dead officer's partner recanted his story and told the Courts that she did not have a weapon and did not shoot anyone. The FBI Crime lab said that she did not have any gunpowder residue on her hands and her fingerprints were not on any of the guns or murder weapon. The Pathologist said that *her arms were up and that's how bullets entered her underarm exiting her clavicle*. Evidence and testimony from the FBI Crime Lab, Pathologist, and Officer's partner supports the FACT that she did not commit this heinous crime. Yet, she was still sentenced to life+30years, held in a Male Prison in solitary confinement for 2years where she gave birth to her daughter. She was imprisoned for 6yrs, beaten and mistreated by a group of female Guards, watched 24hrs a day even during what should have been private moments and after her transfer to a woman's facility escaped to freedom." Every false charge against her in the past was either dismissed or she was acquitted after each trial.

ScoopDog457 CHECK THE HISTORY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, criminal convictions, law representation, injustice bestowed on Blacks (and Other minorities) in America during this era. law enforcement had an unjust way of making convictions before evaluating facts and gathering Bona fide evidence. Many BLACK AMERICANS were unjustly jailed , serving too much time, even serving time for crimes the haven’t even committed. The “justice” system believed In guilty by association and Black Americans were to BE feared just because of the color of their skin. A. Shakur did not have chance of a FAIR TRIAL. After analyzing the historical facts, you will be able to answer your own question and hopefully teach the truth to others. ✊🏽Keep Probing ✌🏽

see we all fail to forget it's God who is protecting her for a reason but see since this world still has not learned to love one another and see the FBI wants us to continue to be seperated that's why God should target them first since they think they are above his law and I pray and hope he judges all those hateful racist demons accordingly because they need to feel what's it's like to have a bounty on there heads but see the FBI messed up when they help trump to win and we say thank you FBI because this war u all won't when due u actually think God will let you all due what you did before read your Bible psalms and it tells you he is coming back but it's not to help racist demons he coming back to show you all how oppression feel and I can't wait to see the tables turned it only a matter of time see God was only giving police officer's to hang there self by shooting down black people and all these years you think God does not hear our cries like he says vengeance is mines so let's see how many of them will repent and I hope God turns his back and say your time is up remember what God did when his people kept being tortured so what due u think he is getting ready to due to all these hateful racist people he will remind them that everybody is equal and everybody should be loved sorry to say 400 yrs of oppression and they still have not learned but within 4yrs that Trump is in office i bet they learn now watch how God works no judge no jury no lawyer can help gods raft that's the amazing part to this history

Read all you can about Assata Shakur she is not guilty of killing the New Jersey State trooper as she has been accused. The records show many discrepancies mainly the fact that she was shot and wounded and unable to have possible raised her hand to fire a weapon. This is nothing but the continual implementation of the black genocide that has always been in effect!!!

Angela Davis is such an amazing woman. From growing up in Dynamite Hill (she knew the families affected by the sixteenth street church bombing), pursuing education throughout her life, a Black Panther, and won many cases made against her by the gvmt (being her own legal representative might I add), Professor, and so much more. She is the definition of what a woman should be. I absolutely adore her.

We are so immature as country... its just sad... my heart bleeds and tears well up in my eyes because of all of this hatred. We as African Americans just want to be free and treated with respect. If I had really been in the know, had been properly educated on how scary this world is I may have thought twice about bringing a baby into this world. Because in order to have what I seek (a world where everyone respects the views of others, agrees to disagree, and just GET ALONG!) we first have to change our perception as well as our hearts... real sad to say but I don't see that happening in my lifetime because the anger, rage, bitterness and the stupid reasons for having these emotions is so deeply rooted it would be nearly impossible for a TRUE change to come. TRUE change comes when the hearts of man see their wrong, accept it, own it, and then fix themselves. However the vast majority of people are too proud, pigheaded, and or self-righteous for that to happen. But hey, what do I know? Peace and Blessings everyone ♥

People have to RESPECT each other and grow up enough to agree to disagree. RESPECT is the key in EVERY interaction - between humans and when man interacts with Nature. RESPECT is the remedy to the ills of the world, all created by massively out-of-whack, disrespectful people. I LOVE your heart, soul and consciousness. +Samantha Brett Your prayer has been answered, beautiful one. You can use KZbin as your platform. It reaches far and wide. You can start with just a smart phone. Blogging is another way... Yes, Angela is great. And SO ARE YOU!!! We are all great with something great to contribute to humanity. Share your gifts now, in whatever way you can. You may not ever know the magnitude of your work/contributions as many people never contact the people who have been an inspiration in their lives, for whatever reason... On New Year's day (this year), as I was walking with a friend, a young lady called out my name. I liked over at her and into her eyes to re-cognize who she was. She was a sweet, shy young teen when I first met her. I'd heard (over ten years ago) from her grandmother that she'd gone to France and Italy to study. This young lady was someone who had grown up in a decent, loving family and she told me that I had a HUGE impact on her, so much so that she said "it's because of YOU that I am who I AM". Even though I have always been one who loves empowering and uplifting people, I was STILL surprised to hear that statement from someone who I'd knew/felt I'd encouraged a bit. A bit (in my opinion). I almost cried... LOVE is Power-full, angel. It's an honor to have connected with you as well. In what ways do you most love to contribute/release your Genius? What is/are your preferred outlet(s)? ...other than being an AWESOME mom who's doing a GREAT job (of that I'm SURE)! XOX!

I have a fear of speaking. when I'm asked to contribute I do it because I'm put on the spot and it's hard for me to say no... but to volunteer my thoughts, opinions and feelings is something totally different.. I'm working on it though 😕. It was difficult for me to write that initial post but that but that gnawing feeling inside of me wouldn't let it go.

+Samantha Brett I understand, Samantha. I used to be INCREDIBLY shy. It was almost painful; at the very least, VERY frustrating. ...frustrating to not allow myself to speak up when I really wanted to - on many occasions. How about just starting with a topic that you're very passionate about and starting a blog, posting maybe once a week? There are tutorials on KZbin on how to do that. Yes? Or just take a sheet of paper and write out a short statement, question, situation or challenge - something you've been wanting to address for a while - and place the paper in view of your camera/phone and begin to record what you FEEL, as if you were talking to your favorite little nieces, nephews or friends/family you feel could benefit from hearing your words. Speak from the heart, letting your Higher Self give you the words. That "gnawing feeling" is Spirit needing to express ItSelf THROUGH and AS you! Listen to it and let it lead the way. Let the words flow. They will. LET it be organic and EASY. LET your DIVINE NATURE speak. It WILL. There will be a wave of words and when it's time to stop...you will - words will cease to flow. Just FEEL. Don't think. Simply sit down to speak/share without any concern about the outcome. If you'd like, you can even block comments from your videos. Just begin, dear heart. Do not deny the world the wonderful gifts/contributions that only you can bring. There's are many things to be said about many topics, but there is YOUR particular delivery that will INSPIRE that certain someone or, most likely, several someones. There are many pieces to a puzzle and without your piece (to the WHOLE of humanity), the "Global Good" puzzle is incomplete. Much Love and GodSpeed XO!

the FBI's most wanted terrorists list..a list made by the true terrorists...may God keep you safe and blessed ms Shakur! it took me a while to get what tupac was really trying to say but i understand now.and to know that you are still progressing your cause brings drive to my heart and purpose to my mind..i am furious about how they are labeling you. but smile Queen cuz "they" will be their own destruction. i hope my lack in fear of these evil cowards and gluttons becomes contagious .God bless!!

if you have not spent any time overseas then I feel bad for you. I currently live and work abroad. I started by attending university overseas. I traveled and interned and worked and studied. always found varies ways to fund it. Now I'm a professional working abroad, started out in int'l trade (finance/banking side of it) and now doing development work. anyway I say get a passport, save up some money and take your vacations to other countries. network each time you are overseas.

Great! I am a former member of the Ill. Chap. of the BPP, a former POW, and a former member of the BLA. The Chicago Police Department specifically Commander Casey 13th District instructed two shifts of the Police to kill us (members of the Bpp arrested on 10-4-69) on sight "if you see these panthers on the street, shoot them, don't shoot them in the stomach, shoot them twice in the head". I thought he was trying to frighten and intimidate us, in April of 1970 two police tried to kill me in Chi

Assata Shakur is free and she shall remain free. That is what is most important as it relates to this case. Our people orchestrated the most elaborate prison break in American history to free our sister. They trumped up charges against her. She is not guilty of what she is being accused of plain and simple. The forensic evidence proved this fact...

Correct me if I am wrong but, in addition to their accolades and accomplishments doesn't the host welcome they're guest to the program. Which might suggest that the guests are not welcome but, they want the skinny on what is going on in hopes that one might have a slip of the tongue.

Angela Davis, the one who taught me what intersectional thinking was just by being herself and describing her experience in her words AND gave us "There is no hierarchy of oppression" to throw at reactionaries who constantly cry about "oppression Olympics". Assata Shakur, hero of the people, even if she did everything the pigs say she did. I take that back, especially if she did those things, not a lotta choices for us lumpenproletariats and nobody said class war was pretty - especially when we fight back. And someone who has done a great deal of work to further the struggle. Least they both outlived Reagan. I really hope humanity survives long enough to view this period for the barbarous embarrassment that it is. We ain't even close. Progress is not enough and it's not promised to stay as we've been seeing. Until reactionary forces are completely stamped out humanity will not know freedom, equality, solidarity or peace. Because you and I are not free until we are all free.

Conflating collectivism and "control by a few" is a contradiction in terms. Collectivism in ownership,in policy making,in management,in participation at any level of decision making is diametrically opposed to the condition of one private business owner or ruling party doing so.
