Oh, she's been my heroine forever, too! I grew up in a very liberal family that lived in a *very* conservative small northern California town. I learned to read by reading the family's daily newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle. If they hadn't wanted me to be a little radical they probably would have taken a more conservative newspaper, like the Sacramento Bee. I was the little freckle-faced eight year-old girl with long, auburn braids and big green eyes, who wondered why everyone laughed when they'd ask me if I was going to register as a Republican or a Democrat when I grew up and I told them I was going to be a Black Panther! I was bright and I knew the Panthers were RIGHT. Modern research has shown that children are _born_ knowing what's fair and what's not fair. Even infants that can't sit up on their own yet know when one puppet is mean to the other puppets. When given the opportunity the infants will grab and hold the mistreated puppet as if they were protecting and comforting it, and then they pushed the "mean" puppet away. It's impressive that we are _born_ knowing right from wrong, good from bad, and fair from unfair. Very impressive, indeed!

How have socialist and communist responded to this? "Criticism of Centrally Planned Economies The concept of central planning is subject to heavy criticism, especially from scholars in the Austrian school of economics. One major critique, associated with Friedrich Hayek, is that central planners cannot efficiently respond to supply and demand. In a market economy, businesses respond to price signals by increasing or decreasing the production of their goods. In a planned economy, there are no price signals, so planners cannot accurately forecast which products will be needed or not adapt to changing conditions. This means that there may be unnecessary shortages or surpluses of certain goods. Another critique is that command economies may be less efficient, due to the lack of competitive pressures. While private companies must avoid waste in order to remain profitable, enterprises in a command economy have no pressure to earn profits or reduce expenses." If Davis is truly a proponent of replacing capitalism with socialism, then she must intend to eliminate racial disparities by ensuring everyone is equally poor, oppressed, and miserable. It makes perfect sense that she is a professor, for only an academic could be smart enough to understand the nuances of Marxism and socialism and at the same time stupid enough to think either could work in the real-world. And don't try to tell me the Scandinavian countries practice socialism. In an economics/structure of the economy sense, they are more capitalist than the US. They once attempted to organize their economies along those lines, but gave up in the late 1980s.

Taking pride - or embarrassment - from your skin color birthplace is just dumb. YOU are not responsible for ANY of that. Be happy to be whatever, but PRIDE is not appropriate, and is responsible for a lot of unwanted pain.

@@thesoundsmith some people want to be apart of something they consider "greater" without contributing anything. Some people just feel empty without that gratification and don't have the mental faculties at the time to imagine a version of themselves without such a desire.

@Wuffaj00 Right. So how is Capitalism racist?
@yorkshiremgtow17734 жыл бұрын
@Wuffaj00 Yes I do. But so what? How does that one example determine that a whole system is racist? Homosexuals were discriminated against during the USSR. Does that mean Communism is homophobic?
@yorkshiremgtow17734 жыл бұрын
@Wuffaj00 Have a look at the works of the African-American economist Thomas Sowell. In the 1980s, his research found that the average black worker in the USA earned higher (in Purchasing Power Parity) than the average worker in the Soviet Union, or any Socialist country at that time. This was far more significant in its implications than any of the baseless, unresearched claims that Angela Davis has made over the decades.

The top commandment in capitalism is maximizing profits. Creating fake differences is key to doing this. Call one race and labeling people of color as inferior and unworthy of support has enabled capitalists bring in maximal profits over the centuries.

What??? Racism is connected to Capitalism? Then perhaps employment is also connected to capitalism, which connects employment to racism too.

Pretty dumb isn't it? Everything is connected one way or another.

Pocnit 👍Agreed. Everything is connected. We need to be clear on what is good and what is evil. Capitalism is what allows for paychecks to clear and not bounce. This is a good thing. Corrupt Capitalism is an entirely different conversation.

@Feminism Is Toxic Femininity Right! Some racism will exist in any type of society or political system! It is always based on prejudice! Pure and simple, that just means pre-judging people before you have given yourself a chance to get to know them or before you have anything upon which to make a valid and intelligent judgement! That has nothing to do with capitalism or not having capitalism! 😊
@spiritofecstasy85254 жыл бұрын
@Feminism Is Toxic Femininity Yeah, racism existed between the Persians and the Greeks, and between the Egyptians and the Jews, etc. It is just instinct, put there by nature as a form of self protection and preservation! We learn to see beyond it gradually! 😊
@spiritofecstasy85254 жыл бұрын
@Feminism Is Toxic Femininity Very true! People can learn to appreciate each other's good qualities through the right type of "one on one" communication! You change people's minds and attitudes one person at a time and that eventually changes the whole country's attitudes! 😊
@spiritofecstasy85254 жыл бұрын
@Feminism Is Toxic Femininity Good character, good humor, and showing a truly genuine interest in the other person causes them to want to listen to you! Intelligent people are able to bridge racial divides in this way until the other person is able to overcome his or her innate, inherited prejudices and actually begins to desire to overcome them! That is how we change people and their attitudes, one person at a time! A sour, demure, expressionless person who has "I'm an unlucky victim" written all over their face is not going to change anybody and may even reinforce their preconceived notions! 😊 (And, of course, it does not go over well in most cases to have a condescending, "I'm better than you expression on your face, either - even if you think are! This may be difficult to do, if you are a minority with a high level of education or professional achievement! You'll have time to demonstrate all these things as time goes on! Then things will be clear and non-abrasive!) 😊

@benzippos3 жыл бұрын
My beliefs are way different than hers but I still like to see how others think so I don’t trap myself in an echo chamber, but I don’t see how capitalism is connected to racism what she said ,to me seems like a half baked right wing extremist theory. Racism is a huge problem that ultimately can’t be fixed whether it’s due to changing economic systems cause even when the Soviet’s had destroyed hitlers reign Stalin also had sent off Jews to gulags and even had them sentenced to death. In terms you cant fix stupid which the stupid is racism, but you can try to enlighten people and teach them to not judge ,just like how they were taught to hate in the first place. I think the idea of socialism or communism couldn’t work due to the greedy nature of humans but in time we could outgrow these tendencies and could actually make it work but it doesn’t seem like it unfortunately. I’m still rather young but I’ve begun to see racism in different light when I was younger I was brought up in a semi racist household where I wasn’t explicitly taught to hate but when alone with certain older family members they would tell me what they thought about a certain race and for a time i thought it was ok but up until about 16 or 17 I realized racism isn’t just a bad thing anymore it was actually a huge problem and realizing how scary in a sense it was to see how someone could hate someone just for the color of their skin. To me it just seemed like a ludacris thing and irrational way of thinking and then I decided to look at slavery as a whole not just the United States but multiple countries. I was history buff to an extent and I would search online for hours or read a book about the Muslim slave trade which Muslims took slavs and enslaved them and sold them which is how slavs got that name. Slavery has existed since the dawn of human civilization and still does to this day with the Libyan slave trade. Americans have a huge problem of thinking they are the only country on earth or just what I call plain ignorance and living in a bubble not wondering what is happening in other countries I’m not saying that’s how all Americans think but I think everyone gets the point. When black South Africans were murdering white farmers and claiming their reasons are justified considering they originally owned the land but they still were perpetuating hate and racism on both sides and no one in America batted an eye except for maybe a dozen or so people. When Tamir rice a young black child who was murdered by a police officer who suspected the child of furnishing a weapon. many people rioted and protested and Obama even said something about it still didn’t get the worldwide attention it needed. Chinese communist party has been imprisoning Uighurs and putting them in “re education camps” which basically means if you don’t listen to what we say your family goes away no one says nothing. 2020 comes along and George Floyd, breonna Taylor dies from police officers and it gets worldwide attention BLM is pushed to forefront of media and racism is once again pushed heavily into the faces of everyone which isn’t bad cause racism is shitty but people should be aware of it, like people should with history. The whole point ig I’m trying to make is racism isn’t just perpetrated by whites but all of you don’t need me to tell you that but the number of people becoming anti white is becoming alarmingly higher in these past couple of years many of the people who are anti white are white themselves, they push a white guilt narrative that we should be held responsible for another humans actions when those who have done nothing wrong are being accused of racism. I don’t hate anyone who thinks differently politics wise but if you hate a person for how they look or speak I will have nothing to do with you. I just had to get this off my chest personally

Racial Capitalism, well said, and about time this is brought to the surface.
Angela should be broadcasted as much, if not more, than Cornel West. In addition to racism, she points out the inherent sexism in capitalism. It appears she’s recently also focusing on capitalism’s heterosexism, with her use of the term “heteropatriarchy” at the end. I love how she combines all these critiques with critiques of capitalism, because the oppression occurs simultaneously.

@@user-wl2xl5hm7k good hearted point, but debunked...... Being born to an unwed mother is the main factor, not SES born into....Not race, ethnicity, school district, or money per student ... example ...NYC spends $20k per student annually in its 1.1 million student district, regardless of race, SES of the neighborhood, etc One must admit, 1.1million is a large enough sample size So, why do only 16% of Black students perform at proficient in Math or English? (NYC Chancellor's report 2013) Why do less than 1% of Black 8th grade students perform at advanced in mathematics vs 18% of Whites, and 23% of Asians? Lack of smarts? No way....Blacks led World class Black colleges, even when there was real racism, prior to 1940. Do union teachers in the Leftist Media capital of Earth under teach group X? Of course not So, what's going on? I suspect a mix of no father at home to say "homework time ", and children not being taught values at home, and emotional pain .....due to being raised without a father's guidance and love, including tough love. Solution.....end generational Welfare, funding Unwed parenthood
