By all accounts Rayner is a hardworking constituency MP. We all deserve a break now and then, at least, unlike Johnson when PM, she was not cosying up to the son of some Russian oligarch. Much as I dislike Starmer's new New Labour, which is as much neoliberal as the Tories economically speaking, Rayner is one of the least hypocritical. I think Starmer would be shot of her if he could get away with it. I hope that I am wrong about the current iteration of Labour and that they do get us out of the toilet rather than flush it, but, to date, see little evidence that I am. All the best.

That’s not really the point though, is it? The point is that there is very little in regards to a male politicians personal and social life and appearance that is openly debated and criticised but there is next to nothing about a female politician that won’t be but Angela Rayner seems to attract it more that some others because of her class classification. It’s as though all though of substance becomes irrelevant and it’s just about how pretty they look or if their behaviour is ladylike enough and then with the perception of what someone of a specific class should enjoy thrown in. Essentially, there is a stereotype that they have decided each female politician should fit and any time they don’t, it’s open season for criticism but they also change the stereotype at will, so no-one really knows what to aim for in regards to just being considered on merit.

A trick she and any other female politician could use when faced with this sort of question is to turn directly to the camera and say "I want to talk directly to the people watching... do you actually care about this sort of question? Does what I wear or how I do my hair or my dancing ability have any impact on your life at all? My job does, the policies I implement do. Isn't that what you want journalist to ask about? About politics, about policy. Not about the fluff that's usually in the back of magazines about celebrities and actors." That would really put the journalist on the spot. If they don't immediately ask a serious policy question the follow up could be "So do _you_ have any opinion on what the viewers deserve to know about? And is it anything more substantial than about my shoes." One or two of these public humiliations and it would act as a great deterrent. Journalist hate being called out directly for asking stupid questions when they know it's just a gotcha attempt. It's like asking a bloke to explain a sexist joke to a woman that he's just made. He'll suddenly be acutely aware of how inappropriate it is when the other person isn't going along with their crap.

Angela Raynor's only "accomplishment" to date was to become an MP, that's not too difficult when you're a former union convenor. But what people should know is,foreign agencies use this information to blackmail these people. Corporations use this information to blackmail these people.
