My main secret is: avoid soap in the tub or shower. I bathe with shampoo and/or body wash, which do not leave scum behind. When we had a 2-bath house, my husband still liked to use soap, so he had to clean up after himself. I rarely had to scrub my own tub-shower, and just did light maintenance wipe downs.
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
+Sarah W. Rah I love the fact that you split up your showers based on the soaps that you use, and each person was responsible for cleaning his or her own shower. What a great way to decide how that works. Thanks for sharing that. 👍👍👍

Two things: this is for your own house. Keep a 50/50 mix spray bottle water and white vinegar in shower. Spray it around walls and floor after you finish showering and no build up. Another thing that’s great is car wax. Just don’t use it on floor it will make it too slippery. Your shower walls, tub walls, glass doors etc. will not streak, build up soap scum etc. The wax is great for guest bathrooms tub and sink. Stays cleaner longer.

Careful with vinegar. If shower tiles are natural stone, vinegar will damage them.
@KelsaurusRex3 жыл бұрын
Vinegar is terrible to use on natural stone and any grout! Vinegar breaks down minerals. Grout and stones are mostly minerals. Although, if it's a glass, plastic, or fiberglass enclosure and only silicone caulking instead of grout, then vinegar wouldn't be so bad.

I have been having several bouts of pneumonia the last 6 months and with the covid was a concern. At one point my doc thought I had pulmonary fibrosis with all my coughing (a fatal lung condition). Just to rule out asthma, he suggested I move to a house without wall to wall carpet in case it was cat dander and litter dust. I was almost ready for an oxygen tank. We moved to a new home without carpet and started using the swiffer and in one week my coughing went completely away!

I love this channel and have learned so much here but have a tip I’d like to share. I was visiting my very ill sister recently and found a new broom in her bathtub when I went in to clean her bathroom. It turns out she had not yet tried it but intended to use the broom to clean all the hard to reach areas. I was skeptical but decided to try it. It was amazingly easy and worked very well using my homemade scrubbing compound. I can’t imagine myself ever going back to crawling around the bathroom again. I don’t know where this tip originated but I hope it helps some of you.

yep I've been using a cheap dollar store broom for years too clean my bathtub, and my shower, my kitchen floors ...really anywhere high or low! It's amazing and works like a toothbrush, except on a large scale! :) I've also discovered in the last year a drill bit attachment for cleaning on Amazon, which has been a lifesaver to me and getting rid of the terrible stains that a tenant left in a plastic or I guess fiberglass shower pan. It didn't seem like anything was going to get it up but with the drill attachment and cleaning tools and just some combat or it might have even been TSP I was able to get it clean without a problem! I've also used it in hard to reach spots while cleaning the refrigerator. Thank you so much for making these videos They are inspiring and helpful and I plan to share it several on social media.

(Homeowner here) I keep a bottle with half and half vinegar and dawn, and a nonscratch scrubber sponge, and just scrub down the shower/tub 2-3 times a week while I take my shower. Then I spritz it lightly with vinegar. Seems to work pretty well.

@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
LOL. I'm dying laughing about the chicks. I was going to get a puppy once and my plan was to let it live in the garden tub since the tub was so big. My husband talked me out of that idea explaining that the puppy would only be small for a few weeks and as he got older jumping in and out of the tub would break his legs. Talking through it I realized it was a bad plan and we never got the dog. 😂😂😂

I have a few tips or suggestions for you. I always do a touch test on walls and bath tubs and also showers. You can feel the build up especially on colored tiles that you can't see but definitely can feel. If its really bad I use soapy water and razor blade to get the build up off. I also vacuum or sweep the bathroom floors and walls. I vacuum the bath tub with vacuum hose and shower walls to get dust and hair. I wash the bath mats in the washing machine and wash the tooth brush holders and soap dishes in the dishwasher ( I do that once a month) (bath mats every clean of course) while I'm cleaning the bathrooms. I also atleast once a month use a polishing machine a little hand held and polish the granite and bath tub walls. It makes a huge difference. I clean vacation condo rentals so every clean is a first impression for every guest. I've pretty much have a formula that is fail proof. Maintaining is the glue that keeps me going. Its so important to maintain after deep cleaning. I also include that in my deep cleaning fee for my condo owners. I get compliments from guest and my clients. They ask how do I keep the condos so clean? I say its pretty simple I maintain the condos by like you said wiping and dusting and cleaning even if it doesn't look dirty do it always. Dirt doesn't have a chance to build up to slow you down by making you waste time scrubbing when you could be wiping. I only have a two clients. They each own several condos that I clean. I worked my butt off to prove my worth to my clients. I get paid top dollar because I'm consistent I'm always learning and I listen plus I make things clean and shiny. Sorry for long comment. BTW Years ago I was just starting out on my own. I started my own cleaning service and I watched your videos and did exactly you suggestedI do to land a customer or client. It worked. I still clean for them all these years later. So I'm a huge fan of yours. Your videos are spot on. Your advice is top notch. For anyone starting a cleaning business or whatever. I recommend they take notes while watching your videos.

Angela, my name is Julia & absolutely I love your shows!! You are truly a Blessing to SO Many!! Howevetr have a problem that I can't seem to solve without a lot of Frustration!! I use heavy duty rubber gloves to clean my dishes, another pair to clean the bathroom, and latex for other household chores. However, sometimes the rubber gloves get wet inside and over time, develop a unpleasant odor. So, I turn the gloves inside out and soak them in Antibacterial Dawn and Clorox for a few minutes. Then I wash & rinse them thoroughly and hang them to dry. Once they're completely dry, I begin the arduous task of turning them back to outside in. However, I'm having a Very, Very Hard Time doing so. Do you by chance, have any suggestions that will make this task a whole lot faster & easier?? I thank you for taking the time to address this issue. Stay Blessed, Happy & Healthy and have a Fantastic Holiday Season!! Julia

Your idea about why people have problems cleaning are very insightful. I did not grow up in a religious home. I grew up in a home where self worth was linked to what the family expectations were. Family expectations were set by a parent who was tyrannical and often very unkind. I think the issue is really that if you can never really measure up you are lost.

As far as the cup goes...I got one with a handle..so it doesnt slip through my fingers as my gloves are wet and slippery. If you can find one..I made one as well... I got a small bucket from home depot, drilled 2 holes in the sides..got rubber washers and a handle, and bolted it on. Worked wonders! Also, swiffers...all the "dust" I encounter seems to be too heavy for the swifter and it just pushes it around or sticks to the edge of the furniture...so i usually use the brush attachment on the vacuum and then wipe it quick with a damp cloth. Just my 2 cents.😁

Hi Ms. Angela, it's me again 😆 I come here often What cleaner did you use in the spray bottles? Thank you and as always superb video
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
You can use an all-purpose cleaner of your choice. At Savvy Cleaner we use OdoBan 32X Bathroom Cleaner Concentrate and it's diluted per the instructions (1oz cleaner to 32 oz of spray) amzn.to/3I3Wpvl (Paid Link).

I try to be environmentally conscious so try to use non-plastic reusable products. So instead of a non-scratch sponge, I use a small natural soft brush Works brilliantly

Paste wax on the walls will help with keeping it super clean. After a maintenance clean, paste wax with a good quality paste wax and rub off. The extra work is worth it. If you use the wax though, you can’t use abrasive cleansers like Comet. And many tub warranties will be invalidated if using abrasive cleaners.

I've just discovered you and subscribed. I'm so impressed and excited to watch all of your videos. For those of us short on time, I love the way you edit and provide instructions in a concentrated format with no needless fluff. Thank you so much for all your hard work. I have a cleaning question for grout and caulk in a ceramic tile shower. We have hard water and no water softener. What powerful cleaner is best for cleaning the caulk and removing mineral buildup in the grout? I'm concerned about using a cleaner that doesn't damage grout or dissolve the grout sealant and doesn't damage the caulking. Vinegar works well on mineral buildup, but I understand the acidity is too corrosive. Also, I thought comet powder was too abrasive and would dull or scratch porcelain and acrylic?

Just mix up half clorox and half water, fresh batch each time. Just spray on everything in the shower. In half hour everything is sparkling. No scrubbing needed. Try it. I have doing it for 35 years.

I use a squeegee and only 1 small towel to wipe squeegee, don't know if this is more or less helpful. Idea from my granny who has trouble bending and getting up and down so squeegee with an extending handle just makes it easier for her.😁

So, with the first bathroom .. the walk in shower, you just rinse the walls and leave them, you only squeegee and wipe the glass? .. never mind, you just answered my question at 16:40 .. ceramic tile you don't need to wipe down. Good to know! Awesome tip regarding holding that cup against the side of the tub wall, in bathroom 3. 👍
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. There is also a portable camping shower we use frequently in professional cleaning amzn.to/3OSbq8J (paid link) that runs off a rechargeable battery. Simply put the orb in a big gulp size cup full of water and switch the spray nozzle on to "rinse the soap off a shower wall." You can clean an entire home of showers or tubs on a single charge and just replug the battery in when you do inventory for the day at the end of the job. NOTE: We use the white spray head, not the orange shower head for cleaning.

Word of caution: using an abrasive cleanser like comet can actually void the warranty on some acrylic tubs. It can dull that shiny finish over time. I’ve been known to use soft scrub on some of the worst acrylic tubs I’ve seen but I’ve always shyed away from comet when it comes to acrylic.
@trudywolcott74195 жыл бұрын
Keith Smith I agree that should be stipulated in the video.

Thanks Keith, According to the website Comet can be used on, “porcelain, stainless steel, fiberglass, Corian®* solid surfaces, natural marble, and glazed ceramic tile without scratching.” Check out their website: cometcleaner.com/cleansers
