I'm always impressed by small scale knit and crochet! The clothing in the movie Coraline was made much the same way. I think the lady that made those pieces used pins, like straight pins. So impressive!

I would love to see more replicas of Barbie clothes. You got it spot on although the eyelet material is not as sheer, but that’s ok. It came out adorable! And the hat is so chic, so easy to make when I saw it on Patreon. Happy sewing! ✂️👗✂️

I really like the ensemble, though I agree with the eyelet fabric being too opaque. The tucks are an interresting method of construction ^^ btw the library link in the description is missing
@AdirondackRuby5 жыл бұрын
What an interesting pattern. I'm always very intrigued by garments that are shaped by tucks/gathers/pleats/darts as opposed to seams & multiple pieces. Seems more economical, fabric wise. A lot less waste if you're just working with squares/rectangles/triangles.
@YTistooannoying5 жыл бұрын
I dont know if it is workable but the overdress in an embroidered tulle or organza would give you the sheerness you're looking for

Another great dress, I love it! 💛 Would you ever consider making a 90’s barbie dress, like the 1994 Birthday Barbie dress? It’s very 90’s and a bit over the top, but gosh, I LOVED that dress as a kid! 😅

My mother taught me how to sew when I was younger. (She was professional machinists before I was born) (And my grandma used to make and sell clothes from her home) although I was always interested in it, I didn’t really do it much and completely forgot about it. Your videos are one of the things that inspired me to start sewing again and I’ve been really enjoying it ! My sewing machine is the one I had from being younger and my mother only brought me an inexpensive one for practice. It’s not very reliable and can be frustrating but it makes me even more happy when a project comes together decently ! My mum has industrial sewing machines and a serger in our craft room, they were my grandmas !!! They’re singers and they’re still in amazing condition, unfortunately we haven’t been able to find any needles for the machine so I can’t use it 😭😭😭😭 I was very bored during the college break and it was a lovely way to spend my time ! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I think you did an excellent job. It's a beautiful and unusual design and looks lovely on you. For the lace overdress i had a thought you could buy lace curtains from a thrift store. They are really cheap and the lace tends to be in different patterns, and the curtains are always sheer. I'd love to see the dress using that kind of lace.

I adore this series so much!! Vintage Barbie and Vintage fashion are my favourite things :3 I do prefer the chatty vlog style (although I know it's probably more of a hassle to do) as I like the more personable approach and the insight and explanation of the creative process we get. If you're after a genuine vintage Midge you can get one in pretty good condition for $25- she's not exactly a favourite among collectors. That dress looks mint, and I'm amazed that you found the bouquet and hat too- the dress and overdress are pretty common, but accessories are a different story- I'd imagine they cost you more than the doll itself would! A small note on fit- the straps on the original overdress are not worn scrunched and narrow, framing the breasts, but drape over them, creating a softer and less angular impression. This is shown on the thumbnail Barbie's right side- so if you're retrying the overdress and aren't in love with the ultra pointy boob, draping a lighter fabric wider would create a more original effect.
