This song was recorded in 1969 before Neil Armstrong walked on the moon in July... If you've not seen it, watch the first video to this classic. It probably cost 300.00 bucks to make. Pure genius.

Oh How The Thin White Duke Up In The Heavens Is Smiling....such a wonderful tribute to one of my All Time Favorite People....didn't matter if David was singing, acting, or being a guest on another's TV Show....he was so Down To Earth! The emotion coming from your playing is powerful Angela! Moments of Tears about to burst turn into a rapture of semi-smiles as you stay point on "Floating In A Most Peculiar Way"! My own personal ALL TIME Bowie Ballad is the supposed sequel "Ashes To Ashes"! That particular video is tattooed on my Soul! We sure were the lucky ones to have been around when ZIGGY was Prancing On Earth! Cheers From Ohio and Thank you Angela for this Treat!

@@bronzesnake7004 I leave it all in The Lords Hands Jack. But you Sir seem to have this all nicely wrapped up with your finalization. I'm fine with my original comment.
@bronzesnake70042 жыл бұрын
@@TheStuport It was meant to be humorous, I'm a man of the Lord's also!! I'm old enough to have been around through the greatest generation of music which is now referred to as "classic rock"! My two older sisters were blasting Elvis, who I still love! Dion 7 the Belmonts, the Supremes, Marvin Gay, all the great 50's music! My generation came into Motown, the Beatles, Another huge love! The Who, etc. of course Bowie was also huge and what an amazing performer!! These performers/writers inspired me to where I had a 30 year dream job as lead vocals/writer/rhythm guitar!! I've performed all over Canada, once in Texas, B.C. and England. I also love (still) recording. When I was recording with pro bands there was no recording software, we used massive multi channel board and tape, with entire walls covered with rack mounted effects, and it took ages to understand and use!! Now I'm in the early stages of writing and recording the first album I've done since I had to retire for health reasons. I decided to record an unplugged, acoustic, violin, cello, piano etc and I'm learning the program as I go and having tremendous fun!! I love the album, Black Star" it's Bowie's ode to life, living, dying and death, and his masterwork!! That drummer is an incredibly rare talent and his performance was flawless!! Having said that, in spite of the fact my comment was tongue in cheek, there is also a kernel of truth in it. It's not a secret, Bowie was not alone in his religion. I've met hundreds of musicians and seen hundreds of bands and a good percentage of them worshipped satan. Of course they have their own version of who or what satan is, and the satan they created in their onw minds which suits their personal lifestyle and paradigm is not at all the same as the real entity. Bowie stated the core belief in Black Star that so many would never dare utter publicly "Something happened on the day he died Spirit rose a meter and stepped aside Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried (I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar) How many times does an angel fall? How many people lie instead of talking tall? He trod on sacred ground, he cried loud into the crowd (I'm a blackstar, I'm a blackstar, I'm not a gangstar" and there it is. When Jesus died, He left His throne and satan took it. I have no clue who go's up, or who goes down, that is a reality only Jesus knows. So, my comment was meant to be humorous with a pinch of reality. Take care! Jack ~'()'~

@@bronzesnake7004 I appreciate this note Jack. Even though I disagree with many of your Religious beliefs and points in this follow up comment, I will just say that there have been a few times I have gone and watched David Bowie share The Lords Prayers in an open Concert venue....and it reaffirms my on Faith every time. 🙏

Never a disappointment between your posts and the released cover. To me this song always expressed such a broad range of emotions while also airing a forlorn detachment. It was a bittersweet reflection of the life in the world viewed in hindsight from a state of removed acceptance. The emotions as you play this in just several seconds time along with the way you cover it really captures this sense to me. The calm and even slight joyous smiles, the frowns, furrowed brow, the points I swear you are about to let loose tears and the almost bored momentary flashes prove how well you live your music and understand it. Music is something that is interprable. I can't say if you caught the artist intent but you certainly personified what this song means to me emotionally in your performance. 💛
