This reminds me of all my high school friends...who are now investment bankers. It was always so cutthroat and competitive being around them. Brought the best out of me professionally but it was so stressful and a lot of ego involved. Love your videos! Very insightful. Potential future video suggestions: talking about your social life outside of work (beginning vs now), dating and how other investment banking analysts dating mentalities are, bring on coworkers/friends to talk about any topics Also I subbed and liked for the youtube algorithm!

That's a great topic! I'll definitely cover that in a future video. Agreed! A lot of ego and competition involved sometimes but those environments also tend to bring out the best in me professionally as well

What exactly do investment bankers do I'm 16 and kinda find this interesting. To me it seems people get paid like a good normal union job for 9 years then you make extreme money

Will be coming out with a video on it soon, so please stay tuned for that!

What is your take on the compliance side of IB? Conflict resolution specifically? Would the work hours be just as high?
@angelasunx33 жыл бұрын
You'll generally have a much better work life balance on the compliance side

Currently working in IB. However, I work in Colombia. I'm an intern in a M&A boutique firm. Is really hard, long hours, but If you like corporate finance, and relating with people, then IB could be the right choice.

One benefit of working long hard hours is at least it gives you really good work ethic! Best of luck in everything :)

I am not from the US. Been working in one of the Big 4 Firms for 6 years now. Always wanted to break into Investment banking. Been trying for years now but no luck. Do you have any advice? Thank you! :)
@angelasunx34 жыл бұрын
Hi Victor! Getting an MBA (if you haven't already) would probably be your best bet of breaking in - see my latest Q&A video where I touch a bit on that.

@@angelasunx3 Currently getting my MBA degree, but still, not from a target school. But I guess, that will make my very slim chance a little bit higher? Still hoping though.

@@victorangelomendoza8349 That's awesome!! Yes MBA will open soo many doors. Recommend you check out specific MBA programs since lots of banks have those - network and apply!

I have a question though. Is it possible to come in early as oppose to stay up late in Investment banking? Like instead of a 9 am - 12am schedule, can you negotiate with the bank to get a 6 am - 9 pm schedule?
@angelasunx34 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not! There's no specified "end time" in investment banking - day only ends once you guys are finished with the work which oftentimes comes quite late at night (sometimes 10PM or after!)
@jasper59024 жыл бұрын
@@angelasunx3 Oh, so there isn't an end time as you need to do the work immediately by the end of the day? Wouldn't the sleepiness of working at night impact your productivity as oppose to working before dawn?
@angelasunx34 жыл бұрын
@@jasper5902 Nope no official end time! Some people do prefer waking up early and continuing with the work but that just depends how much you have! Usually they want it by that night a lot of the time (you are also working in a team so your team mates will likely be up too)
@jasper59024 жыл бұрын
@@angelasunx3 Peer pressure lmao XD Wait, by that night? ._. Is it because the client requested it?
@angelasunx34 жыл бұрын
@@jasper5902 Yes if it's a client deliverable especially! But a lot of the times in banking everything just has an "asap" deadline so people will generally end up staying later to finish and send so it will be in the MD or whoever's reviewing it's inbox by morning
