I have 2 themes. My son was a United States Marine for eight years and is currently in college in the Northeast. He has been collecting tee-shirts from his favorite times and places in San Diego and said since quilting is my passion, when he comes home this summer, he wants me to teach him how it's done. We also have the USMC theme to work on. I am so looking forward to this!

That is so cool that your son is interested in your hobby! I’d recommend he take a peek at some videos posted by The Quilting Marine. He’s a great guy who uses quilting as PTSD therapy... and he has made some guy-friendly quilts. Right now he’s fearlessly working on a New York Beauties quilt. Not overly precise, but *very* colourful & cheerful. I admire him for taking on a non-traditional (for men) hobby. ~Diana K.

I've made this pattern of yours and it was fabulous! A friend didn't have many shirts, but they were special to her, because they were from concerts she and her sister attended. After her sister's death, she asked if I could do something with them, even a lap quilt would be OK. So, I found your pattern, and she still didn't have enough shirts! So, I embroidered sister sentiments on the perimeter blocks in monochromatic colors to the fabrics. I loved that the tshirts stood out, but the embroidered blocks were, 'quieter' and more there just for her. She was so excited with the end result! Now our oldest daughter has asked me to make one using her high school choir and colorguard shirts.

"Life"- When I lost my job because of COVID, I stayed sane by immediately sewing face masks (out of old clothes and pillow cases) for family, neighbors, the local hospitals and church soup kitchens. Then I used the left-over fabric scraps to make my 1st mini quilt wall hanging as a memento of this crazy time. But I have lots of interesting tee shirts just sitting in a closet. From charity runs (Alzheimer's' research, Childhood cancer. . .) college, travel, nerdy science tees. . . I knocked out 3 tshirt quilts this year. Not my favorite type of quilting but I always am surprised how nice they are once done. Love the quilts - especially snuggled under the memories. Love the quilt in the quilt pattern!

I have lots and lots of upcycled t-shirts from national parks that have worn out over the years. I'd love to combine them like this and put a national park panel pieced back with it. Thanks for all you do!

Angela, I have saved tee shirts from our family of 4’s trips and events over the years. Prepped and waiting for a special design idea. Thank you. This is one of the best ideas for my multiple colors of shirts I have. These ideas of your is what keeps me coming back. It’s like we’re having a coffee or quilt juice talk and brain storming for my next project. Thank you for bringing back the Midnight Quilter.

I have 3 boys, all baseball players. I saved most all of their years of team shirts just with this in mind. This is just the right kind of pattern for their quilts. Thanks for sharing with us!
