Erik won Swedish Idol in 2009. After that he joined a Swedish rock band called H.E.A.T from 2012 - 2020 before moving to sing for Skid Row. H.E.A.T are a brlliant band with some great albums.

Erik won the swedish version of Idol in 2009 were his audition was the song 18 & Life by Skid Row and fronted the metal band H.E.A.T for about 10 years I believe. Then he got leukemia which he managed to pull through. And a couple of years ago he got a call from one Rachel Bolan who is the basist from Skid Row offering him the gig as lead singer for the same band he auditioned with way back when. He became their lead singer for about a year before stepping down due to focusing on his health since touring wasn’t optimal for his recovery. How’s that for a Cinderella story? 🥰

I feel that Erik is somewhat underrated as a singer. Yet I have become a huge fan of him.... right up there close to Dan Vasc. This song really shows off what he can do. His voice is unique, and I love listening to it.

You should listen to Erik Grönwall sing (Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You, it's the best cover I heard since Whitney Huston did her cover in the movie Bodyguard). You should even look/listen to him sing Mariah Carey's Without You, John Farnham's You're the voice, Eric Carmen's (Celine Dion) All by myself, Oh Holy Night and The Animals House of the rising sun, they are also truly amazing! In 2009, Erik won Swedish Idol and performed the specially written song Higher in the final. On March 23, 2022, it was announced by Eddie Trunk that Grönwall is replacing ZP Theart as the lead singer of Skid Row. In March 2024, Erik announced that he was leaving Skid Row for health reasons after being diagnosed with leukemia. His first single, "Higher", reached gold on digital downloads after only three days. His debut album, self-titled Erik Grönwall, was released just ten days after the finals and debuted at number one on the Swedish albums chart and was certified platinum. Both as a solo artist and band member, Grönwall has numerous top 40 hits.

Funny you mention his very tense neck/throat muscles.. The "pro" singer reactors miss that part and even if Erik is well trained that song had to be a struggle for him! But he pulled if off like a champ! Erik´s version of John Farnhams - The Voice or maybe something by Tommy Johansson, an other absoulte gem and Swedish as well with some serious vocal skills!

And... if (if) you want to listen to more music to almost cry to, listen to Louis Tomlinson; "Two of us", It's about when his mom died of cancer, (leukemia i think), and just a short time after the song was published one of his sisters died. It's a ballad, (not a power ballad, no...) and really emotional (at least I think so). If you want to hear more recent and happier music of his then I recommend "Walls", "Always You", "The Greatest", or "Bigger Than Me"... "Out Of My System"... (well...there are more songs...
