Hey all. As far as I have understood it, Tommy is completely self-taught both with singing and playing! 😭😭😭❤❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

He did attend music school which (from what I understood) had a profile in musical theatre, but absolutely no classical vocal training. His vocal teachers were apparently a book of vocal techniques and a radio

Tommy Johansson used to be the guitarist in the Swedish heavy metal band Sabaton. He left the band this year. You should react to some Sabaton songs. Especially the songs "Christmas Truce", "No Bullets Fly" (Animated Story Video) and "En Livstid I Krig" (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenborg). En Livstid I krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenborg) have English translation.

I think that technically he's still with the band through the american tour? Just that he announced he's leaving after that?

Tommy Johansson is a power metal singer. Power metal is full of musicians like him. It is a goldmine of music if you're interested to go into the rabbit hole. It's technical, melodic, epic and often inspired by filmscores, fantasy soundtracks and medieval/bard themes.

Tommy Johansson attended a 2-year music education at folk high school and was NOT trained in classical music. Tommy b wants to try to understand music as much as possible, how it is structured and how to make it sound a certain way. Here's how Tommy talks about Christmas music, for example: As for the Christmas mood, it's instruments and that the melody brings with it the chord change when the melody changes and also that the scale changes. Now we get into nerdery and the scales change from one chord to another and then find our way back to the original chord. It took a while to learn and to understand the music. From an interview: Sabaton toured together with Apocalyptica and that must have been a very interesting experience for you who like to analyze music? Did you learn anything from them? Yes, I really did. In that they are three cellists, one playing solo, one playing bass and another playing between them. It was often that I stood and looked at them to understand how they do it to sound so fat. One plays the bottom and then I noticed that when the other plays the melodies, I noticed that since each chord is made up of at least three notes, the third plays as one voice along with the melody. It's very interesting to listen to just him, it doesn't sound right at all, but when you add the bass and the melody, it sounds right. We even ran five songs together. This is how Tommy learns music and then sings opera and other musical styles. So Tommy himself develops his singing voice as well as various music changers. So what you say is NOT true and thus not true.. So you have to learn not to trust what others say but find things out yourself.

6:15 It is true for metal. All metal bands of any worth know classic. They know this and went hardcore on the chords and it's history. Now Opera is different, but adjacent. That is why you have real opera singers like Floor with metal bands. Opera is about passion, to tell a story through vocals. Rock is in sync with that
