When I was about the same age as these choice children, they had me sing in a session of Conference. I still remember that the Lord’s prophet was sitting on a seat just about 8 feet away. I’m 65 now, but I still remember being close to the prophet!

These special spirits, these daughters and sons of God are the same age as the children I teach in Primary. In fact, some of them even look like the kids I have the privilege of teaching. So, you can imagine how my heart swelled, and tears came to my eyes watching them. I have served in many Priesthood positions and serving in Primary has meant the most for me.

@orangestreaktony803 ай бұрын
I find the contrast just interesting. For some (like you) it was depressing; for many others, me included, these were days to feel joy, the love of our Savior Jesus Christ, and a renewed commitment to be His disciples. Have a great day :)

The hymn teaches about Jesus's sacrifice in the garden of Gethsemane, where he experienced all of the anguish and pitfalls of sin. This is preceding his sacrifice on the cross where the Atonement was fulfilled and he paid the price of our sin on our behalf, despite being the only sinless human to walk the earth. I can understand that if you are unfamiliar with these events, they may seem daunting and depressive, but it's actually the opposite: the extent of Jesus's love for all of God's children means he was willing to pay the ultimate price of our sin on our behalf, a price that we cannot pay ourselves.
