For the "record": "The lyrics of the song refer to a spirit that haunts the memory of a grieving loved one. Similar to several other songs written by [Ben] Moody, the lyrics of the song are based on a short story he had previously written.[According to Lee, it was "Ben [Moody]'s song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." He also stated in the booklet of Fallen that he dedicated the song to his grandfather, Bill Holcomb. This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a very powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing a loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones as well, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting marriage, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.

A couple of facts about this song and video first of all the song featured in Daredevil Ben Affleck movie and the song is about a lover who died and she can't move on The video in the opening scene when Amy Lee walks round the fountain those children to can see were not part of the video originally they are not actors they actually live there and were playing I'm background rather than reshoot the scene they decided to leave the video untouched has it made the scene more authentic Evanescence are one of my favourite groups of all time unfortunately there was a lot of division in the group and now Amy Lee is the only original member left in the group They have some songs especially from the album Fallen you should checkout # Be Kind ❤️ # Peace To All ❤️

It's Abt death. But if you notice in video she is always laying down like on a CAR maybe falling jumping? She's almost floating and always outside...then in a tree etc. her clothes are all white.. And he is moving around inside and out but in funeral attire it seems. In beg. I noticed he was moving his fingers like playing air-piano. So then it shows him playing...I think he wrote this song for her. She's dead but can't move on...I've been watching reactions just to see if ppl get it and I would say only 30% say vid is abt death in meaning and only 10% how she is the one who's dead.
