So this song is about losing someone, and not just anyone, but like THAT person. The guy playing the piano wrote the song. The video is in his perspective, she has died and she’s a ghost just lingering. That’s why she’s wearing white, bandaged up, and her feet never touch the ground at all. He looks to be in a suit like he just came from a funeral… Her earthly self is gone but her spirit is everywhere to him, thus the title “My Immortal”

They are a very specific genre termed Goth Rock that really peaked in popularity in the early 2000s. Most of their members are in fact Christians though they vehemently deny being a “Christian band” when asked. It always brings to mind a quote by C.S. Lewis “We don’t need more Christian writers, we need more writers who are Christians” (I may be paraphrasing a bit, it’s been a while since I’ve read the actual quote) They write music that appeals to everyone, not just to Christians. ❤️
