This song really got me. My husband has a brain injury and has lost a lot of himself and I’ve lost him. We’ve been married 47 years and although he’s here physically, he’s gone. I’ve known and loved this song for years but it hit me a whole other way today. I probably needed a cry.

this song was written by the man playing piano, he lost his grandfather and it killed him. People suggest it's about Amy's sister but 'Hello' was written for her
@durv132 жыл бұрын
i think the confusion came about like this . he did write the song for his grandfather , but it was slightly different . he told amy to put her feel to it , and she sang it for her sister , but no , she didnt write it .

You can tell it's more about losing someone... not a break up, but death. Especially the line "now I'm bound by the life you left behind" - it could be losing a friend, family member, partner anything/anyone. The way she sings pierces through the heart of everyone that listens. If you don't get emotional (because not everyone cries) then you are literally dead inside
@einsp227 Жыл бұрын
No, it was written by BOTH he and her while they were in high school. The song went through a number of changes before it was ever released, it even had more lyrics than the version we actually got. Moody also said the song is fictional and has no religious meaning whatsoever.

The video is so great. I used to think the woman lost a loved one, and the man was a ghost. But I watched a reaction video and they said it was the opposite. The woman is the ghost and if you watch the video in detail, her feet never actually touch the ground. And the man us dressed in black, similar to what you would wear to a funeral. He also stops when he's walking and looks up, staring at the sky. There are many shots where Amy looks like she's almost floating in the air- she looks like an angel. It also helps that she literally has the most angelic voice ❤ I'm not talking about the actual song and who it was writtem for or about - but the video portrayal of the song...

My Immortal" is a piano power ballad with a slow tempo. Lyrically, it talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone."[1] Critical reception towards the song was positive, with critics complimenting its piano melody. In 2005, it received a nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 47th Grammy Awards. The song was also commercially successful, peaking within the top ten in more than ten countries. It charted at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topped the charts in Canada, Greece and Portugal, as well as on the Billboard Adult Pop Songs chart. The single was certified gold in the United States and platinum in Australia. An accompanying music video directed by David Mould was filmed entirely in black-and-white in Gothic Quarter, Barcelona, on October 10, 2003. The video shows Lee sitting and singing on various locations but never touching the ground. Shots of Moody are also shown but he is never together with his band or Lee
