I did really well in school when I was younger because a lot of things were easy for me to pick up on, so I never actually learned HOW to study. this is a tip that i found that helps ME so it may not work for everyone and that’s OKAY but if it works for you, then great! i’m glad i could help! so i found that prewriting my notes has been a big help. i would research what classes i would be taking and i wrote down some basic rules and principles, any equations i needed to know, and i would scratch off anything that wasn’t important or didn’t need. not only does this help you take better notes, it helps you prepare for the class so that you will be on top of it and know what your professor is talking about during class. this has also helped me during high school as well. hope this helps!

There’s only one thing in the video that I didn’t completely 100% agree with, and that is to, “Stop studying things you already know”. I studied Korean at the Defense Language Institute which is arguably the most challenging school in the DOD. One of the learning/study strategies that we were taught to utilize was the Soup Method. Basically, you treat learning like it’s a bowl of soup. You keep adding ingredients to the soup so that it’s layered in the bowl (the new material), but if you keep the soup layered like this you will only be able to taste one or a few of the ingredients. Therefore, it’s important to stir up the soup so that all of the ingredients are mixed, meaning you have to continue to go back and refresh yourself on all of the basic or old content. It doesn’t have to be a lot of studying old stuff, or stuff that you already know, just enough to refresh yourself (which I guess is mentioned in the video). But anyways, thank you for the content!!!

hahaha! Love your energy!! Quick question. Do you study with time in mind or goals in mind? e.g. I need to put in 3 hours each week per subject or do you just have goal topics you want to cover each week regardless of how long it takes? Do you allot time for fun activities like going to restaurants? (I always feel guilty if I'm doing anything but studying but I know it's unrealistic to study all the time and it has diminishing returns and I'm still end up not being a straight A student. LOL!)
@anamarie973 жыл бұрын
The way I study is with a certain objective in mind. Before I start I identify the 3 things I need to understand better and start from there. That really helps me stay focus and not zone out while I'm studying. I've identified my purpose for studying. I always aim for 45 minute session, with a quick 10 minute break in between. And yes!! You should have certain activities that are part of your self care routine! It's important for you to still find excitement and joy in your everyday routine. That's what keeps it interesting 😄 don't feel guilty at all, self care is important for your overall health and for achieving your academic goals! That was the only way I was able to get my Masters in 1 year and graduate with honors DURING the pandemic. I was able to graduate twice (undergrad and grad) with honors by project planning, time management, and organizing my schedule. You have everything you need to set yourself up for success, you got this!!
@2007tclarke3 жыл бұрын
@@anamarie97 Thank you so much! 😊I really appreciate your reply. CONGRATS on your successes! 🥳 One quick question, at the end of the 45 minutes, how do you assess whether you had a good study session? Do you always do a quiz at the end and see how high you score or something similar?
@anamarie973 жыл бұрын
@@2007tclarke Before and after my study session I looked at the learning objectives for that specific chapter. Which you should be able to find in your textbook, they may be in the beginning or very end of the chapter. I measure my progress based on how quickly and accurately I answer them! It really helped. After I did that a couple times, I would take the quizzes that are assigned for each module (which my professors made for us to track our progress as we got closer to the test). Hope that helps! :)
