Had to say this as I got there, but that date. I don't even believe that this date ever took place, but from my understanding, the problem was not him asking if he could touch her. The problem was that she is showing him that she is upset with him for doing xyz, and he still thinks that he is allowed to kiss her. Making someone upset and then asking for a kiss/hug/touch is wierd behavior.

The first guy read ASD to me (elaborated in reply) and like, whether or not he has ASD, her sending mixed signals and just the way she told the story gives me bad vibes. Not saying either one was perfect, but I don’t think he’s as awful as she was making him out to be, imo. Could be wrong

Ok the “childish, socially inept, lack of understanding lines, taking things literally, etc” is what reads autism to me. Ofc he could’ve just been a bad dude or the language/cultural/whatever is to blame, but like there are so many other possible reasons (not excuses) for the behavior she spoke of. As someone pretty educated on psych/ASD/neurodiverse stuff (almost my first bachelors in psych down, diagnosed with stuff as well), this seems like a situation where it the guy potentially has ASD and it suddenly becomes her bashing him for him existing and trying to fumble through a date. Had I been in his shoes I imagine it would’ve gone similarly (idk about grabbing her, but also he may not have realized that was not ok at all, esp if it was never something he was told prior) With ASD/similar traits, her sending mixed signals and not communicating clearly and literally was def the reason for a lot of her issues. Even without ASD, mixed and unclear signals make the already complex dance of a first date into a bit of a nightmare, especially since she told him to communicate and didn’t reciprocate that curtesy towards him

So much of what she said about the first guy was just judgemental and cruel. Saying he’s childish for taking things literally and needing to ask what the boundaries are…. This is exactly why I’m terrified to date. As an autistic woman, it all confuses me, I take things literally, I’m so aware of all of the social rules that all conflict, I’m so aware of being respectful of people’s space and body that I just don’t touch anyone and feel awkward being touched because I just get so confused with all of the different rules. Then the fear of being judged for asking what the persons preferences are, or what social rules apply to them… you can’t win seemingly as someone is so not a natural when it comes to relationships 😞
